I've moved beyond socks. None of that penny-ante stuff for me.

Well, the flamingo and crane are still struggling to get back home - I heard their distant, faint cries until I logged out of SL last time. And woke to mysterious messages - three pages - recording their plaintive pleas. But "they" must be watching because the recorded messages don't tell me where they are.

Just 'off world' - I only hope it's beautiful. *snif*

Only a precursor, they are practicing on 'objects'. Next it will be 'us'.......

:-O

And judging from the sheer number of messages, wherever they are, they're not happy...

(I only hope the chipmunk is happy with all those birds and sea animals...Maybe the aliens are building an animal sanctuary. Uh yeah.)

I once rezzed a hive thing that rezzed little fairies on my land. I went offline one night and when I came back there were fairies all over the place and they took up all my prims. hehe it took me forever to catch them all.One got away and I kept getting messages that she was such and such location so I would tp there but by that time she moved elsewhere and for months I couldn't catch her lol. When I did, I stepped on her...

I KNEW IT! I KNEW the aliens were coming today! And most of you thought ol' Puppet was going nuts! Now there's proof!!!

But I won't hold it against you all. I better get working on more tinfoil hats so I can pass them around!

Clarissa, I'm very sorry about your flamingo and crane. If I get abducted by the aliens because they get confused and think I'm a pet too, I'll let them know you miss them and see what I can do to secure their freedom.

I better watch my dolphins closely - I bet they're in on it somehow!

/me pulls tinfoil hat on tighter.

Now look what you've done. Got Puppet all stirred up again.

Folks, there's nothing to these rumors. I was assured of this by some Lindens dressed in black not too long ago.

Don't be silly, they're just innocent bystand... byswimmers. Everyone knows it's really the mice.

I liked the more recent solution of flattening them like pancakes

I am dubious about that whole vulnerability: there's no way they wouldn't sandwich the generator between lenticular stasis boxes.

nah, stasis doesn't play well with the drive (at least that's the excuse I hear, but doesn't explain the hull... never mind being hard to hit while on the move)

Puppet thanks for the tinfoil hat. I've tried to make the remaining flamingo wear one, but so far, he refuses. He's either brave or foolhardy.

The crane is back! Whoever took him must've seen my last message. Too bad I don't have a photo of the flamingo (just his brother) so I could post a missing: wanted poster for him too.

The flamingo still sends out plaintive pleas for home several times an hour. I'm thinking, though, it might be along the lines of stars that have vanished long ago, still sending light to earth...

They routinely carry slaver stasis boxes around with no problems.

God, Nessus is an awful blabbermouth for someone supposedly so smart. It was bad enough him blabbing about starseed lures in Ringworld...

Magic?

Clarissa,

Have you considered that there may be other dark forces at work here? With respect to Dr. Asimov: Any sufficiently advanced form of magic will seem like technology.

I now live among the Sindar, the Grey Elves of Menegroth, and now have access to their vast knowledge of the arcane arts. I shall endeavor to find your little pink friend as soon as I finish cleaning the fortress.

Hey, you have to start somewhere! ;)

Not to split hairs, but that was Clarke. The principle applies though.

Nessus always was too proud to shut up... and effectively cost the puppeteers a whole agricultural world

you'd think the whole interior would be in a stasis field, but then there's puppeteer paranoia and, I'm not sure what effect the field has on visble light (perhaps it can only act as pass through and not a refractor... I'm a little fuzzy on details because I haven't read in a while, and apparently the Niven was a little fuzzy on it too )

Of course, I knew it was Clark. I just wanted everyone to know how much I respect Dr. Asimov. :b

Weston,

I certainly hope you won't continue to split hares. Cutting bunnies in half won't help the poor lost pink birdy will it? It won't do the bunnies any good either! :(

He almost lost the rest of them, if Louis Wu hadn't convinced Speaker to keep quiet about the Starseed Lure.

It would make it hard to navigate, since no time passes in a stasis field.

It does make me wonder why they use cold sleep in Iceliners instead of just putting the passengers in stasis, though.

There's one Bey Schaeffer story I know of that hasn't been absorbed into the "Worlds" series yet, I assume it will show up in the third book.
