Hello. I am desperately seeking sit animations for furniture. However... here's what I've discovered... every animated sit pose I've looked at (bits and bobs, which I love, plus other vendors) assume that the avatar is sitting in an arm chair or at least one arm is going to be cradled by a pillow or other raised surface.
I have a regular bench I'm looking to put animated sit poses in, but can't find any.
Anyone know of any?
Thanks kindly.

Check the scripting forums or the wiki. You need to make sure the seat is the first object you click when you link the objects.
Having said that a friend of mine is having awful trouble getting this to work with a sculpted prim chair.

WHERE can i get quality scripts, that actually work? bling bling bling. i need bling.... and rippling water, not flowing water. thanks!
and i'll go to bits n bobs later today.

Looks like the thread did get off topic, from animations over scripts to particle effects  anyway, here's a simple bling script: updateParticles() { string texture; llParticleSystem([]); llSleep(llFrand(3.0)); llParticleSystem([ PSYS_PART_MAX_AGE,.2, PSYS_PART_FLAGS,PSYS_PART_EMISSIVE_MASK | PSYS_PART_INTERP_COLOR_MASK | PSYS_PART_INTERP_SCALE_MASK | PSYS_PART_FOLLOW_VELOCITY_MASK | PSYS_PART_TARGET_POS_MASK, PSYS_PART_START_COLOR,<1,1,1>, PSYS_PART_END_COLOR,<1,1,1>, PSYS_PART_START_SCALE,<.08,0.3,.01>, PSYS_PART_END_SCALE,<.08,0.3,.01>, PSYS_SRC_PATTERN, PSYS_SRC_PATTERN_EXPLODE, PSYS_SRC_BURST_RATE,(float)5, PSYS_SRC_ACCEL,<0,0,0>, PSYS_SRC_BURST_PART_COUNT,5, PSYS_SRC_BURST_RADIUS,.0, PSYS_SRC_BURST_SPEED_MIN,.1, PSYS_SRC_BURST_SPEED_MAX,.1, PSYS_SRC_TARGET_KEY,llGetKey(), PSYS_SRC_INNERANGLE,1.54, PSYS_SRC_OUTERANGLE,1.55, PSYS_SRC_OMEGA,<0,0,10>, PSYS_SRC_MAX_AGE,(float)0, PSYS_SRC_TEXTURE, texture, PSYS_PART_START_ALPHA,(float)10, PSYS_PART_END_ALPHA,(float)10 ]); } default { state_entry() { updateParticles(); } on_rez(integer gnarf) { updateParticles(); } }

Scripters who made bling scripts were rounded up behind a shed and shot. This was about one year ago.

From: Bree Giffen Scripters who made bling scripts were rounded up behind a shed and shot. This was about one year ago. I'm part of the anti-bling movement too I've written the above script for a dragon hoard and some treasure chests. Not body attachments. I'd never run around with particle effects all over my avatar.

I've got a few pieces of jewelry I love.. but hate due to the bling. *mutters* Thankfully, they are mod, so theoretically, once I tell them /bling off... I can just delete the script.

No offense, but I thought this thread was about animated sit poses and not bling. Can we please keep this on topic? If bling is a concern for anyone, a new thread is easy enough to make and I suggest doing so.
Thanks.
Dierk, I'll be contacting you later and thank you very kindly for your offer. Cheers!

well.... i made a wedding ring set, and i need my diamond to glow. is there another way? if the bling is so evil, i won't do it. how else, then, do you get the diamond to outshine the gold?
and i do also want the sitting script. i am listening for advice on that too. still intending to it bits bobs next time i'm inworld.

3Ring Binder, would you be so kind as to start your own thread on bling? I've asked nicely to keep this thread on topic.

I haven't seen too many sit animations that don't use the whole arm-raised, but I've seen plenty of plain poses. Have you tried the Animation Warehouse?

Have you tried the Animation Warehouse? It's okay... I don't mind the odd OT comment, but this thread is quickly becoming the "help me with my bling" which is completely unrelated to the original post LOL Confusing for anyone jumping in. I've been to animation warehouse, thanks. Isn't it strange though -- tonnes of great anims for sits involving pillows, arm rests etc., but just a basic good animated sit... maybe I'll talk to Craig Altman LOL.

If that falls through, try dropping a note card with a request for one to some of the other animation creators, because they might not realize there's a lack of them. I mean, a no-arm raised could be great for sitting on stools, pool edges, all sorts of things. I'll do some hunting in world later to see if I can find a few.

Thanks, Raudf. I agree... what a great little niche waiting to be filled! My poor garden benches have been without for so long. LOL But you're right... so many possibilities. There is one vendor that has an animated couple pose for a bench, but I'd like some singles too.
Cheers.

I know that craig has some that do not involve arms raised as I have a couple couch sit is one of them, they are a more relaxed sit pose, I think would be cool for a bench
last time I chatted with craig he said he doesn't do custom stuff much anymore, as he doesn't have the time.
as for the post about selecting the bench seat first when you are linking the object..... why?
the way I do my linked sets that have a sit animation pose in them, either embedded or as a ball, I select the part (seat or ball) last then link the object..
if I use a pose ball as opposed to embedding it into the seat, I adjust the sit, then I make the ball full alpha so it is not seen, and it is the last to be selected then linked.

Lucrezia, I make a couple of sits that might suit you. One thing, I don't see if you mentioned whether you need these copyable for furniture to be sold or just singles for your own personal use, and I'm trying to stay out of the "wholesale" copyable business :/ Feel free to come by my shop (in my profile) and I'll give you a few if they appeal to you, and you don't require copyable sets.

As for selecting the bench seat first -- oh heck, I don't know. I completely ignored that comment as I don't have issues with placing poses directly into a prim. I try to keep things free of pose balls unless the situation warrants it. But I either use a menu interface or just the old fashioned "stick pose in prim with script" and I'm done. I think someone misunderstood that I didn't know how to do that... so I never responded. LOL

Laura Honey makes some nice sit poses as well, not all are based on armchair furniture.

You might try Pillow Talk as well. I know they do have a few poses with perms specifically for furniture makers. I also know they have at least 1-2 sit poses like you are looking for, but I don't remember if they were offered in the re-sellable bunch.

Pillow Talk has at least 2 full perm "hands on the lap" animated sit poses. Bits and Bob's "couch sit 1" and "couch sit 2 (M)" have hands and arms other than on arm rests. At Lost Dog Designs, Ben Stravinsky has some new full perm poses. "Male solo 1" is a good one of a guy sitting on the edge of a bench with elbows on lap. and "Female solo 2" is a girl sitting on the edge of a bench.

Thank you, all!!
By the way, I just got back from Anti Antonelli's shop, which I highly recommend.
His animations are smooth, fluid, subtle, and beautiful. You will not be disappointed. I cannot express how wondrous his animations are!
If you're in the market for sit, couple, intimate and non intimate animations, please try Anti Antonelli's works.
And thanks again to all who responded!

From: 3Ring Binder well.... i made a wedding ring set, and i need my diamond to glow. is there another way? if the bling is so evil, i won't do it. how else, then, do you get the diamond to outshine the gold? Add a light to the setting (ie the bit the rock sits in not the stone itself). Works much better than bling. You have to be careful setting the fall of rate and distance else you can light an entire sim with it. At work so I can't give the settings I used .. just experiment. Back OT.. for furniture and pose ball sits, I've found Animations designed for AO's a good source for sit poses. Often a lot less expensive than buying a pose ball as well.

There is are lots of freebie sits from Fleabite Beach which are Poser defaults that she released because she felt annoyed that people were selling default anims that were free with Poser.
Since she downloaded and has a notecard stating that they are free to use, they would be a good thing to find. The boxed set say they are for male avs but I have found they work for female avs well enough.
Usually you can recognize them because the are expressed like: Sitting Chair F01 or Sitting Chair M01. You can find them at Yadni's in the freebie animation box I think. I will check out Anti Antonelli..thanks for the tip.
