Supply and demand.... ample supply and demand it seems, so now... *ahem* *pulls out wallet* Can you perhaps price a bit more competitively? :)

Wow. A picture is worth 1000 lindens per square meter. No wonder the one 1024 I have for sale is just sitting there.

Ample supply yes. Demand? Not so much.

I think the demand is somewhat there but the land sellers won't lower their prices.

Just be a smart consumer and wait them out. Their tier has to come due sometime within the next 30 days. LOL :D

Well, it's the lowest it's been in a long time. L$10.5 per meter base. Will go a bit lower when the auctions end tomorrow.

and waiting thse land people out. Preposterous land prices, especially when I've seen water mainland against protected linden waters (my land in Bruin) go for a little over 10/sq. m (and this was just late 2006 when I bought this land). Now you can't even find anything close to that, if you do, you're in a SH*** location in the midst of ugly builds or a casino.

These land sellers are price gouging...but I think a lot of people are also doing the watching and waiting.

I swear, if I had the money, I would get my own island...then I wouldn't have to deal with all this. >.<

What's really amusing is matching up the price of a full sim's worth of mainland against the price of a private sim.

It's worth it to build a small business to the point where income outweighs the tier of a private island, then you can just save up a bit and snatch one. It's literally less work than trying to find a good deal on mainland.

Verkin...you're right...if I was working irl, I'd do JUST that...but I'm currently unemployed.

But yes, I agree, buying a small island would definitely outweigh the pricing on mainland, or even on rental sims like Azure.

Well, I sold my little piece, but it was for a reasonble price (not so low as to make the landbotters rich, though), and also because a neighbor of the plot bought it.

Everybody is going to price everything so high, including the Lindens themselves, that I fear this whole bubble is going to pop.

Me too. How can regular mainland SIMs cost twice as much as an island that is your own?

Because you can cut it up and sell off the pieces for more than you paid for it before you have to make a payment. You have to pay for the island up front and you can't split it up. At least that is how it was explained to me when I asked the same question.

Well seeing new land costs $7-8 per meter from the lindens then I suspect it can drop more, just saving & waiting myself till I can buy an island or mainland sim at a decent price. There's more land than people I suspect at the moment. Even though the population online has doubled in last 6 months, the place has become a ghosttown, malls & clubs are empty with so few people compared to the amount of comercial property.

All of SL feels like a ghosttown to me. maybe everybody was offline doing their taxes. But I am not seeing any flyby's in my home sim, especially compared to all the folks passing through around the time of the Brazil immigration.

Someone said earlier - demand is somewhere but sellers won't lower their prices - also some buyers are probably keeping their wallets shut because they think prices will fall. Sellers, or at least land barons, have greater need to sell than 'private' buyers have need to buy, because of their big tier payments. So the pressure to reduce must be there somewhere.

When I looked earlier, the cheapest 512's were nudging down to the 5000L$ mark - so prices are dropping,

I agree that prices are finally falling, but I think it is going to be relatively short-lived. It's tax season, winter is almost over (in North America), and people are not spending a lot on land at the moment.

This summer could be interesting since demand can rise once people have had enough of the (real) great outdoors.

I completely believe that there isn't a lot of demand right now. So many new sims so few new premium accounts.

i will buy when its like 4 cents or something then maybe it will be a deal but otherwise ....nah :)

Slow time of year everyone is outside in north american in their gardens or rather the northern hemisphere which has the largest % of users plus maybe everyone is finally keeping their wallets shut for that time when the prices make sense for the performance of the game and whatnot orr they just got seriously fed up like me and now live on estate land and cancelled their little premium account cause it was a better deal then living on an giant ad farm ...

Actually 9.6 and rising since LL has not dropped many sims to auction over the past 5 days. Those few 9.3 or 9.4 plots are uninhabitable.

May fall again soon though....a ton of sims from the Nautilus Continent have yet to be dropped. Here is a map of the new continent coutesy of Aminom Marvin. Note how much waterfront there is...

I know you are joking to make a point but for those who don't know, land can never drop that low because the starting auction price for new mainland sims is US $1000.
