will I get banned, or just a warning...??

Hi there,

I was hanging out at my favorite place the other day, and this guy started griefing everyone with childish behavior, rezzing massive objects, name calling, verbal abuse, pushing people around, etc. The sim had all of it's safety's turned off (no-push, no-script, no-build etc...) so anything could happen at this point. I had had enough, and (probably foolishly) decided to take care of him. I used a tool I have that I thought was a simple orbiter, but what turned out to be an auto-cager/orbiter thing that remained in the sim and activated on him anytime he came back. As funny as it was watching him get what he deserved, I really didn't want to escalate it to THAT high a degree. He became very angry with me, and filed an abuse report (at least he said that he did). It took me a while to figure out that I could shut this thing off (I hope) and I did. I haven't logged on since yesterday to find out if he's ok or not, but he should be able to log into that sim now.

Anyway, my question is do you guys think I will be banned for this??? I don't have a history of this kinda thing, and I think he actually might. Should I send in a report of my own to explain what happened? Should I do nothing? Do you think I will get a warning??

I've been a very bad girl...

Thanks everyone.

If the Lindens even read your report, I imagine nothing will happen. Maybe a warning?

Usually, you get a warning or a 'time out' which is a suspension of the account that is roughly three days long.

That is if they bother doing anything at all. I imagine that when choosing which to punish the one with the most AR's against them will *ahem* win.

Thanks for responding. So, even if he was clever enough to get all his friends to file reports against me regarding this incident, it would probably be considered a first offense right?

My guess is he didn't really file an AR since he was being an ass first.

My understanding is that if the safety features are disabled, then you can assume that you are in a combat-enabled area, and fight back with whatever you've got.

I may be wrong.

First offense usually does result in a warning, and since you weren't affecting anyone other than him. If he was causing grief for more than yourself and they also filed AR's, well he's more than likely get the time out. This is IF Linden Labs does anything at all regarding it, because the AR team is probably the second most overworked bunch, right after billings.

In the future, if it happens on a private island or private property, see if the owner/officers can handle it first ;) In my case, I have no issue with setting the land to damage...

If you filed an AR against him the Lindens'll probably figure that the two cancel each other out. At any rate, way to go! If he was dumb enough to get back into the sim, I would have fallen off my chair laughing, watching him get repeatedly caged/orbited. What a tard... :D

lol. It was kinda funny. I didn't realize the tool did that. But, like I said, I didn't think I should have taken it that far. Hopefully, when I went back to the sim, and pressed stop on the tool, the thing went away.

The answer is that you will be suspended because you are honest about what happened. It's easy to punish a confessor. The griefer will not be suspended, because he will lie, saying he did nothing wrong, and it takes too much time to investigate the truth.

I hate all the griefing tools out there, but that sounds like he had it coming and i would have been on the floor laughing i think..

I guess that's called a guilty pleasure lol..

Always AR when they grief. Even if it doesn't do anything right away, it builds their rap sheet.

In re: Griefers:

KILL KILL KILL!!!! Hostile message to follow.

Discouraging them from even thinking about SL is doing SL, LL, and you and your fellow Residents a big favor. And hey! Where do I find that repeat cager/orbiter?!

If you find a way to locate griefers in RL and arrange for thugs to come to them in their mom's basement and skin them alive and feed their remains to the rats and cockroaches down there, please post it here. It will be wideely appreciated.
