Ya, um... kinda sorta the opposite of a PG sim, really.

Hi, I have searched the knowledge base for the answe to this question to no avail... Please could you tell me... Is it allowable to sell sex beds and equipment in a PG sim? (1) Search the knowledge base for "PG". (2) Open up the first article, titled "What is the difference between PG and Mature land?" (3) Look halfway down the page at the section titled "So how do I know where to draw the line?" Here is the text: PG regions have frequently been described as an area where you're free to say and do things that you would feel comfortable doing in front of your grandmother, or a grade school class. In Mature regions, Residents can be free to engage in more adult activity and language, though of course, explicit adult content must be contained behind "closed doors". However, if you feel there's some ambiguity as to whether or not your activity or content is allowed in a PG region, it's likely best kept to a Mature region. |

Hi, I have searched the knowledge base for the answe to this question to no avail... Please could you tell me... Is it allowable to sell sex beds and equipment in a PG sim? I would argue yes, it is allowed. Here's an analogy: A steak knife is a perfectly inoffensive and useful used in one way (cutting your steak). Used in another way, to stab someone, it becomes something else. The offense is in the use of the knife, not in the knife itself. In SL, the bed is inoffensive. Nothing about it has graphical images (unless these were used to texture the "blanket" ![]() Now, is it worth the headaches you'll get? If you are intending to sell these beds in a PG, be prepared to put up with nasty-grams & harassment from people who might choose to interpret the word "sex" as offensive and thus by default the bed, having said word in it's name, is also offensive. You will also need to take steps to make sure that the bed is not used. Your sales will take a hit because most people will want to test the animations first, and they can't do that publicly (your store is considered "open to the public" ![]() |

I would say no, it's not allowed. _____________________

What if my grandmother is a dirty old lady?? he he Totally subjective. I think labeling sims "PG" is solely a legal protection. |

Allowable? That's a gray area but I'd say more on the no side than yes.
Should you do it? No, there are plenty of places in mature sims to setup a shop to sell sex beds and sex related items. Why would you want to sell those items in a pg area anyway? |

Since LL makes the rules let them decided weather it is or is not PG. In general I do the following in situations such as this where there is some gray area as to weather or not something is PG.
Set up what you need and go about your business If some one comes along and decides it is offensive they can report it and then it will be up to LL to decided to tell you to take it down or not. |

Or maybe we could follow the obvious intent of PG areas, and not sell sex toys there? ![]() There is no shortage of Mature-rated regions. PG land can be a little cheaper, but it is cheaper specifically because its uses are limited. |

I would argue yes, it is allowed. ... In SL, the bed is inoffensive. Bzzzt. A bed, with no poses included, is inoffensive. A bed with just sleeping poseballss is inoffensive. A bed with poseballs specifically intended for sex acts has an obvious intent behind it, and can't really be considered PG. _____________________

LOL Seriously though, these analogies are useful I guess to give people an idea -- but clearly there needs to be explicit rules for PG sims such as: 1. You may not sell any piece of furniture with pose balls of a sexual nature 2. You may not sell, display or distribute images depicting persons engaging in sex 3. You may not solicit sex within a PG sim. 4. You may not engage in sexual activity of any kind within a PG sim. etc etc etc. I'm not saying I would like to have these types of rules in place--far from it. But if the main grid becomes open to teens and/or minors I see this as inevitable really. Otherwise, there will be more RL lawsuits over this than there are residents in SL. |

A bed with poseballs specifically intended for sex acts has an obvious intent behind it, and can't really be considered PG. (Preparing to be flamed for doing this) - Actually I filed an AR on one of my PG-sim neighbors for starting up a "lovepod" rental business with open pods containing sexgen beds within eyeshot of my place. The abuse report was closed, and the sexgen beds in their open pods are still there. So YES, apparently, it's perfectly fine to have a sexgen bed rental business in a PG sim. I suppose it's only AR-worthy when people start actually USING the beds. F'ing ridiculous. Sometimes, I'm glad that I'm leaving. _____________________

Just because its against the rules doesn't mean its going to get banned. LL's censorship and land policing policies are, as the Japanese would say, なぞです。

I suppose it's only AR-worthy when people start actually USING the beds. Note that the apparent lack of response doesn't mean it's okay. After your first AR they maybe just issued the person a warning and told them to remove the mature content; it may take a second AR for LL to actually go and remove the items directly. _____________________

Well I hope the Lindens see this post. This has been raised with them for the last three weeks now because I don't believe it is "PG"; I am talking here about dicks and pussies. Yet I am having to put up wth it beause the Lindens won't do anything about it. And even better same parcel has sex gen beds, which I don't mind people trying clothed, but guess what...you always get some..lets go all the way now and try out our new attachments as well!!!! Oh I thought that was mature and definitely not PG with great big glass windows for everyone to see. Oh but sorry we are not talking about a Lindens Sandbox, so it seems it is allowed. There are 2 instances of this at the moment, and that's without looking round for others yet.
I am still trying to find out what is classed as PG, and no-one at Lindens will talk to me about it...so where do I go next. Is it time for media involvement to finally get this one sorted out.....I wonder !!!! |

I don't see why sex gen beds can't be sold in PG sims as long as you can't test them out. I mean if the language of the animations is crude, then maybe so, but a bed and poseballs are not exactly explicit. Ann Summers happily trade in high streets and they sell all sorts of adult items.
