From: Raudf Fox If the tree limbs are coming over onto your property, AR it. Trees are supposed to stay on their own property and not yours. Had a person do that to cover those stupid ads too, but it made matters worse for the legit businesses in the area, because the trees were hitting our properties and blocking them.
Irony is that the trees became as big a nuisance as the ads. yea well i have numerous times, but it seems every time i put in a report they change the system and nothing gets done about it ... i did just add in a support ticket and new AR this week tho, we shall see what comes of it

From: Raymond Figtree Again, plots of this size are not auctioned. Pretty sure they are set for L$1 for land bots to grab (At one point in time, they were fair game to anyone). So if the landowners decide to buy them, they will be paying the land bot runner what he sets the plot for once it's claimed. Unofficial, but I think LL hamstrung the search bots. A friend ran into a notice doing searches for land this morning. Basically it told her that too many searches have been made in too short a period and that she couldn't do another Search for 5 minutes. This may have been a bug, but if LL set that up, it will truely hamper the bots, possibly making them worthless to those using them *hopes*. ~Jessy

~Jessy Yes. If you page through search results 'too quickly', you get a delay message. The bot operators just run a cooperative network of bots, rather than just one, so that they can keep hammering the database at full speed. Meanwhile, ordinary people get their searches delayed. Bot operators 1. Linden Lab 0. Users -1. (Linden Lab then inherit user score) If LL wanted to hit bots, they would suspend or *really* slow search for avatars that do nothing but search. Bots have a behaviour pattern, and there can't be very many unique bor behaviour patterns. And then the bot operators would make their bots jump through some non-search hoops.... but they still have to search a lot.

~Jessy Ah, cool. Maybe there got to be so many busy bots that they ruined their own good thing. I say good, and I hope it stays in place. A legitimate bot-user still gets his advantage from finding all the opportunities he's interested in. He just accepts the risk that a "mere" human will beat him out on a bargain. Makes it sporting. OTOH, the unscrupulous bot-user, like He Whom We May Not Name In This Place but who has the surname of Merlin, is screwed, with an intrusive, titanium object festooned with fishhooks. Love it.

From: Zen Zeddmore sadly much arbor project donated land isn't set to autoreturn,,, so across the street from me is? you guessed it: A giant spinng ad. Not an Arbor plot but.... I came across an isolated 16m plot. The plot was set to allow anyone to build. Some lowlife had rezzed a giant 3-prim rapidly-spinning "For Sale" sign on it - a real attention-grabbing eyesore. He had set the sign for sale at 100L. I presume the scam is that people are intended to click 'the plot' and think they are buying it for 100L. The name of the perp was something a bit like Felix9 Sands. Memory fails me, but it was kinda like that. I'm sort of guessing at the name. So technically I'm not actually naming names. If there actually is a Felix9 Sands then I'm really I'm really really sorry for accidentally randomly typing his name.

being that he doesn't ever respond to IM, it's a very safe bet that he doesn't exist. But the non-existant account with that name is racking up a lot of money cuz the buy doesn't buy the original but a copy so the eyesore is still there and you're the proud owner of an ugly for sale sign.
My question is " How could this person find the time to check all these stink plots with autoreturn turned off?" ... unless??????? Baaaaaaa!!!

Flying around randomly I was asked 'why do people do this (re ad farms) it can't make them money and WHO sees these and thinks 'yeah I must go there, that looks cool'.
Well I can't answer the second one, but it must make money for some.
I was amused then to see an advert for something else on my sim - from a guy who has reputedly been trying to bully my neighbour into selling by saying that he will be taking over the sim (this guy started flying helicopters over my land the day after I bought it so he got banned ... I lurrrrrve banning people acting like asshats so I assumed that was the intention there lol).
But an ad by the roadside in a random (PG) location for a club did surprise me. Who DOES look at them and think "yeah I must go there, that looks cool'?
