Stupid question - where is this 'mapping rights' facility....? Is it in the box where you click to see your friends - I notice there is an option to check something there about mapping?

You have to explicitly allow people to find you on the map. By default your friends cannot find you. I am pretty sure this was a big "save the search/map database from exploding" move rather than anything socially driven, but nevertheless, if people can map you, it's because YOU CHOSE TO LET THEM.

So please give up the drama.

Drama? I see no drama... only a small discusion about the pro's and con's of mapping friends (with some funny remarks coming along with it)...
