What chance of LL relocating to Frankfurt anytime soon?
Please DON'T. I live less than 20 miles from Frankfurt....and if something went wrong with SL, I'd probably feel the urge to actually DRIVE THERE AND BEAT UP SOMEONE! Haven't met that many Germans in SL yet....but that may also be because I almost never actually speak German in SL, thus people wouldn't recognise me as German anyway. And I seriously felt embarrassed by the "professionality" exhibited by those journos from the ARD and their paedo report...as Mainz, where the "report" originated from, is only FIVE MILES from where I live. There you have it, bad influences all around.

Yep, their leaders are just as bad, but since I'm an American I couldn't give a flip less about how moronic their leaders are. What I find amusing is that they pay more attention to my President than their own.

Well, regardless of the actual numbers, one of the things I really enjoy about SL is the international character. Although I live in the US, here, I'd say half my friends are from other countries. I really love saying good morning to my English friends before I go to sleep. Since I'm rather monlingual, most are from English speaking countries, but I do love going to places such as Paris 1900 where the locals seem quite tolerant of my "mauvais francais".
The world really is becoming a smaller place.

From: Tybalt Brando Seriously, mind explaining that statement? Well, for starters, not sure how other states are, but the area I'm living in- Adults do NOT play "video games". From what I've seen, the most you get is an occassional player of Windows Solitare, maybe a WarCraft player if they're in college. From various other sources it appears that 30+ yr old Americans are mostly not into "video games". I tried having a chat with someone my age (late 30s) about a video game. The response might as well have been "You loser!" So far its like if you're a kid in college, maybe up to age 25, its expected you play video games. I also read some stuff in a Sociology class, and for the most part it also has to do with the assumption that A) Games are for kids and B) If you have time to play video games, you're not being productive in any shape or form. All of this is slowly starting to change tho, as those "kids" are now adults and gaming is becoming a more accepted way of having fun. NOW- what I've noticed also is, other countries are more accepting of gaming as a leisure activity. South Korea, for example, with their "PC Bangs" or whatever they call their Internet cafes. Nothing like this in the USA that I know of. Maybe somewhere? We had one locally, and it offered PC and Console Gaming Online. It died out within a few months. All the guy could get coming in were High School kids. The only adults that came in were there to pick up their kid. There was another game shop that dealt with old fashioned Pencil & Paper RPGs, stuff like Warhammer too. It also died due to lack of interest. Again, nothing but young kids coming in. When the PS3 & Wii went on sale, I didnt see too many old people in those lines either. I'd bet money most were there to buy it for their kids or grandkids. Also from experience, I grew up with many many many adults, including my parents saying "Playing games gets you no where! Get a REAL job!" LOL! If they only could've looked into the future 20+ yrs ago!

Hmmm I see. Well, after doing some looking I found this. http://www.who.int/mental_health/prevention/suicide/suiciderates/en/After seeing that, I'm glad I play games. I also work 60hrs a week from home and play while working. And don't people get cranky when they call SL a game?

The average age of an online gamer is thirtysomething I read not long back. However if I popped down my local pub and had this conversation I'd be called all sorts of names so maybe a lot of them are afraid to admit they play in person.

But keep in mind, those 30-40 yr olds grew up with video games too. Maybe its being thought of as a "slacker" or "immature". Slooooowly thats changing. OH! And keep in mind, I also live in an area where most people over 35 have NOT heard of this thing they call "Warcraft".

Not much to add other than this thread reminds me of this very import new story: "The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a five year phase-in plan that would be known as "Euro-English". In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f".
