Tossing out an idea: Forum "Open House Week"

yeah i thought it was sounded cool until i realised it was owned by chris norse. man thats like joining a club with elex as owner. i do want to cut some ads around him though, so this could get me closer to that i suppose.

Actually it's CO-OWNED by Chris and myself, but that's irrelevant since our first and only requirement for membership is to leave Forum animosities outside, which evidently you don't want to do. *If everyone who Chris pissed off didn't join the group, our,membership would probably be 0. *

I wasn't aware of this requirement but joined anyway. I don't have any animosity of my own yet so could I get a copy of someone else's animosity to leave outside? Barring that should I create an alt to get animositous with?

We prefer you have your own animosities, as using someone else's is a violation of the Public Health Code

At last count we had 44 members, the group meet ups usually have 10 or so people show up. Nina, I think you will find I can be quite polite and gracious in person. What happens in the forums stays in the forums.

To get the thread back on topic, Brash if you are still interested in doing the Open House event/group, I am still interested. I think having a casual group like this is a good idea, and would definatly not mind the visiters.

So. I betcha all thought I forgot.

If there is still any interest I'll start a new thread tomorrow where we can give a landmark slurl, and a brief description (private home, business, art gallery, hobby site etc). It can be a tiny studio apartment, a business, anything that's ->!!YOURS!!<- (yay!) and you'd like to open for the Forum Open House.

I'm just not sure if it should be a weekend thing (Fri/Sat/Sun) or let it run a full week (Sun-Sat) -- maybe a week is too long? Would a weekend be easier?

This is not a contest, don't feel shy if your digs are rather plain, this is just a neighborly "Go meet those names we see everyday on the forum. And if they're not home, poke through all their stuff behind their back."

It might be polite to descretely mention any content that could be offensive to some, so that people can pick and choose options they feel comfortable with. IE, if you live in a nudist colony, or a Wicca coven, or a Catholic nunnery, and you think it is possible someone might have an issue, just mention it casually off-hand.

Or we could "label" ourselves as "PG", "Mature," "Very Very Adult." Just so that nobody pops into something that goes against their own comfort level.

I like this idea.

My house is already always open to visitors, there are just two "locked doors" (I know that they are easily to by pass, but it is about the signal that is given). One is to a privat room in the main house, the other is the door to my photo-studio. The photo-studio is locked because I want to work there undistrub. But for this occasion I will unlocked them and relock them when I am working there.

When you make the new thread I will add the details to my house (when I am home, because I don't have the slurl at my work).

I vote for having it be week long. Speaking for myself, my grid time is pretty limited and if there's a high level of participation I might not be able to get to all the sites.
