From: Divinatia Sliter Hey everyone. I just bought a sim/private island about 3 weeks ago and before the price change. They billed me the old price. A week after I bought it, the prices went up. So while I was still waiting for the private island to be built, the price went up and I hadn't been contacted yet about the completion of my private island. I finally got it 2 days ago. So, my question is, what price am I paying for tier? Since they upped it in the middle of building it, do I pay the old tier? Or do I pay the 295 now? For this month do I pay 195 and then 295 next month? Thanks everyone Any island ordered before the 15th you pay the 195 tier.

Seola, agreed you have to be damn careful about financial news sources and the legal liability and/or accuracy. That is why lawyers get rich which I presume is the same worldwide - Having said that ADVFN is regulated by the FSA and therefore would be subject to the FSA directive about treating customers fairly. But I think we will leave it at that and both accept that once a news item leaves its source provider, proving liability gets harder and harder. ------------- To help the previous posters who commented about Island prices and tier..... I have plagued Linden Labs over the last few weeks about land pricing and to their credit they remained helpful and polite. My understanding of the situation is this...if you buy an Island before the 15th of November you will pay the old price and the old tier level, you may get a class 4 or class 5 server although in various Linden blogs the impression I get is that server selection may be biased towards class 5. However....post the 15th February (and perhaps anytime ever) Linden may take action to prevent what they see is unfair arbitrage by preventing you from selling it on to Mr or Mrs A N Other at the old tier level. In fact my broad understanding is any transfer for money or monies worth could trigger a situation where the new owner will pay the higher tier level In addition to this Linden have not offered any contractual guarantees the current lower tier level will remain in place even for Island owners who have not transferred. Just a little insight to this: I saw a Linden answer who essentially laid it on the new CFO for the price increase. Here's the article quoted: http://www.financialexpress.com/fe_full_story.php?content_id=145616From: someone “It’s basically recognition that there's a whole lot more value for private island regions,” said John Zdanowski, Linden Lab’s new chief financial officer. “That’s why our demand for them has been so much higher” than similar size real estate on the mainland. From: someone Zdanowski said Linden Lab has not been profitable to date, and that with the existing island price structure, the company has been ‘subsidising’ the growth of the virtual world. It now has more than 1.2 million registered accounts and has recently seen a rush of famous companies jostling for position in-world.
Zdanowski said Linden Lab’s cost for servers, bandwidth and engineering talent have risen in recent months and that those factors were involved in the company's decision to raise island prices.
“The way (islands are priced) now, we would always be on the verge of profitable. The new CFO comes to town and does some analysis and recognises that fact,” Zdanowski said. Wow, ego much?
