I'll make it bold for people who missed it the first time. From: someone 6. Under certain circumstances, you may receive service credit for unscheduled downtime. "Unscheduled Downtime" is an unplanned or unscheduled interruption in Service availability for a period of at least twenty-four (24) hours during which you are unable to access the Service. Unscheduled Downtime is measured from the end of the time the Service is 100% unreachable for a period of at least twenty-four (24) hours until Service is once again restored. 2 hours here and 2 hours there over the course of the month doesn't count. 24 consecutive hours at one shot is required. This is more generous that most services of this complexity offer. It's much more similar to an ISP level service guarantee (they all guarantee 99.9% uptime, but read the fine print). Regards, -Flip

Regards, -Flip Shit sorry but bullcrap, I work as a Sysadmin for a web hosting company, if I have a server go down for more than an hour I got monkies on my back, for 2 hours even the CEO knows, at 6+ hours we're almost at the point of "my jobs on the line it must be repaired NOW". That seems to be the problem at LL, after reading Phils little "Im so happy we're so happy tralala low employee churn blah blah blah" speach I don't think anyone is held accountable for bad performance there. For planned downtime like upgrades, the grid going down for 6 hours is fine. When its primetime on a normal day and the grid goes spiraling to a halt, if it wasn't back up within the hour then someone would be having problems. Mind you my "Job is in danger" point is at about 6 hours, and one server may contain 120 customers paying us between 5-100 bucks per. Now lets put SL out on the line where you have thousands of dollars changing hands on a minute to minute basis...... yeah get it fixed or find a new job. The worst part is you know its probably just basic database et al management that needs to be done. Quite frankly if you haven't rez'd that plywood object since 2003 it can be deleted out of the DB. Account hasn't been logged on since 2003? Move it to another database which will act as a backup and get it and its 20k+ items out of the asset system.

Noone's job is in danger, LR is not a traditional company, etc, etc. Come on, they do the best they can.

From: Jesse Malthus Noone's job is in danger, LR is not a traditional company, etc, etc. Come on, they do the best they can. As far as I have heard, LL is one of those company's where an employee could literally slap the boss or pee all over his papers and they *still* wouldn't be fired. Phil would probably take you out to dinner to talk about your "problem" and what he could do to help you with it. I've said it before, but in the small nice company that LL used to be, and the small nice place that SL used to be that's really really cool. In terms of running a serious business of the size that SL is today however it's an absolute disaster. Without some kind of professional structure (which doesn't seem in the offing) things will always be this way. Stuck in that horrible intermediate stage between being a nice little company town and a heartless corporate universe. So as soon as the buy-out happens, things will be more professional, but the "nice little company" effect will be gone forever. Kind of sucks either way. I say roll back to 1.4 and kick out everyone under 35.

Oh ok then We did not not get grid attacked 4 times yesterday then did we... I stay for friends these days and to do whatever I can. But with all the under 18 in the game its getting worse and worse........
