One person *did* get very pissy about one particular region that was named, though...
True. Maybe she asked for them to be locked. I haven't seen that any of the regions were removed though, so locking the threads did nothing if that's the reason. Or they may have been removed, in which case locking the threads still did nothing.

personally I think it was the picture of Phil. Everytime he shows up in my panties a thread gets locked :(
sheesh! So many possibilities point right at me - BUT it wasn't me who posted it :D

I do look cute tho .... don't I? lol

Phil, let's be honest... We gave 255 reasons for the first and 57 reasons for the second thread to be closed - and it was quite gently not to tell the OP the reason. Other mods might have taken the opportunity to talk about intelligence!

Not locked. They should have honestly been removed, even still. But, does Millie have the ability to do MORE than lock threads? Does removing a thread require a Linden review of some sort? Though she could have put at the tag end if that was the case.

Hey, did we ever figure out if the OP of the threads was joking or being totally serious?

We didn't figure it out and my best guess is that she was being serious from the start, and everything she posted about it sounded very serious. She may have realised what was happening and gone along with it, having a laugh at us, or she may not have realised. I hope she was having a laugh at us. If she was just going along with it, she played it extremely well. So well that later in the first thread, I got to feel a bit guilty that we were carrying it on so long. I didn't want her to feel bad when she finally realised what had happened.

Whatever the truth is, and in spite of the topic of the thread, I did get to like her.

I believe the mod can edit posts, even if she can't delete entire threads.

Phil has a point: Millie, if you look back at Strife's moderation, you'll see that he almost always closed a thread by quoting the relevant forum guideline that was violated. That's good practice. It keeps people from saying, "you closed THIS thread, but why not THAT thread on the same topic?" (in this case, bots). You should have said, "I closed this thread for naming names", NOT "discussion of bots is inappropriate".

Also, if a thread names names inappropriately, I think that it should be not just locked, but edited or deleted. The reason for not naming names is to protect the innocent from the court of public opinion. Leaving the names out in the open doesn't do very much in that respect.

i wanted to tell her so bad ..then it got locked and i was not even going into that second thread..
i couldn't take the guilt anymore..i just wish she would have caught on..
if she did catch on and was messing with us..how cruel lol

seriously i think she had to know..

I just chatted with her in my store and found that she hadn't realised what was happening. She only found out when someone IMed her. She said that she'd wasted so much time. She must have read the IM today. She is still on the trail though - undaunted.

http://slbotblacklist.wordpress.com/list/

I expect that Seymour will be added as she is "black and white" (her words) about her view about 3 alts per person being logged in - max, with no shades of grey, and my store has 6 models. I also pointed her to the bots :)

Poor thing. I think the threads should be removed to save the girl some of the embarrassment.

She means well, but she went about it the wrong way, in the wrong forum.

She won't make one iota of difference. She isn't going to present anything that hasn't been pushed at LL (Jack) for a long time. Also, LL will soon make an announcement about bots - so Jack says - so they've given the matter some considerable thought, and a little extra push won't change anything.

Am I the only one who has noticed that whenever a thread is full of "IBTL"s, it just seems to go on for ever.

IBTL has the same effect on moderators as garlic does on vampires ?

I just don't know how it could have been serious...I mean it might have started that way but she HAD to have caught on.

I came in late, and read the first post and all the regions listed before I read the rest of the thread...and I was like omg no way...people sure do pick some odd names! But I caught on at like the first or second 'region names' posts she was given. I hope it was the first but it might have been the second /embarrased

ohh I just read Phil's last post...she really didn't know. Who IM'd her? It was nice of them lol

lol. It *must* have been the first list of 3 on page #2, given by Eli. That's where it started and you couldn't miss it. I reread it last night, trying to decide whether or not she realised, and I told someone that she *had* to have realised those 3. But she didn't. In the second thread, she said she knew what was happening and that she didn't mind, and we were relieved. But what she "knew" wasn't what we knew, unfortunately.

Anyway, she hasn't been put off at all, and she didn't treat me like a leper, or call me any names etc. - we had a nice chat. So it doesn't seem like she holds any grudges, which I'm pleased about. The marriage is off though :(

She's fine now, I just spoke with her also and gave my explanations and she in turn sent me the wordpress link and invited me to join her in office hours :) She really is sweet, but I feel her crusade will not get her anywhere :(

Me too, Ashe. But it does mean that I'm in the market for another fiancée, complete with nuptuals. Do I hear any offers??? :D

LOL. Yep. I did IM back saying that I am heartbroken. She seems nice.

Now about that visit to England. I have a damned fine bed that I want to show you (a flower bed, of course), and after that ..... well, just get over here and we'll try the nuptuals on approval. I take it that nuptuals can still come "on approval" these days? :D
