This is for Millie Thompson - who locked the 2 blacklist threads.
Millie. There are ways to moderate a forum well and ways to moderate a forum badly. You moderated the 2 blacklist threads badly. You locked the first one without giving any reason as to why - *very* bad moderating. If listing region names was the reason, you didn't remove the list - *very* bad moderating. You locked the second one without giving any reason why, other than "guidelines folks!" and "If you have issues with bots PLEASE take it up with Second Life Support personnel via the Support Portal. Let them know about it instead of taking up a personal vendetta.", which says nothing about why you locked the thread as there are many anti-bots threads here that are never locked. Also, like the first thread, the whole of the second thread remains intact.
I don't know if you have the ability to edit posts and remove the list of regions or not, but if you aren't able to do that, then you are not a moderator here. If you *are* able to do that, then you are a crap moderator here. Either way, you are allbut useless here.

Innumerable bots trashing logins? "in before the lock". Meaning, the OP is about to get a friendly reference to the rules of the forum.

Jeez, lighten up Francis it was just a joke!
Back on topic though. The black list threads were very amusing but it's very typical and expected for SL to block these stupid joke threads.
I will say this though, it might just be coincidence but I think when there are lots of comments about locking then the mods are way more likely to lock. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

From: Phil Deakins Why would it be locked? For criticising the moderator? Is that against the guidelines? I don't think so. Hate speech! Plus you didn't say " In my opinion". You presented it as fact. I seem to recall that you yourself regard this as being very inflammatory when you percieve it to applied in your direction Perhaps if you were to gently guide the moderator through the finer point of moderation, as you understand them? From: Morwen Bunin Calling a moderator a crap moderator is not very clever to do.... even when you think so. It's neither clever nor stupid. It's just a statement of an opinion, based on the moderator's actions. There was no flaming in the thread (not that threads are locked for that), so that wasn't the reason. There were no avs named, so that wasn't the reason. There was no anti-bot vendetta in it that isn't common in this forum. There was no heated argument or anything along those lines. There were a few regions named, and they are still there in both threads. So why were they locked? If it was the region names, why are they still there? Millie is a crap moderator because she didn't state why the threads were locked. I can't criticise her if she doesn't have the ability to edit or remove posts (to get rid of the region names, for instance) because, if that's the case, then she isn't a moderator - or she is a very weak one.

Phil, let's be honest... We gave 255 reasons for the first and 57 reasons for the second thread to be closed - and it was quite gently not to tell the OP the reason. Other mods might have taken the opportunity to talk about intelligence!

I think that the Blacklist thread was closed because of Phil's final post From: Phil Deakins NOOOOOOoooooooooo. It's all female avs that don't try to seduce me that should be banned.
Advocating large-scale and comprehensive banning of other residents by sex is NOT to be encouraged. eh..... In my opinion

eh..... In my opinion Hmmm.... you may be right about that But it still doesn't excuse the crap moderating - not stating the reason.

Other mods might have taken the opportunity to talk about intelligence! If you mean the region names, we gave very few actual region names. And being gentle, by not stating the reason for a moderator action, is totally crap moderating, because nobody would know what not to do in future.

One person *did* get very pissy about one particular region that was named, though...

The simple fact that everyone is guessing at why the thread was locked tells you that the morderator probably should have explained why they were locking it.

Moderator action should always be explained. That's just common sense and courtesy. To do less makes you no better than those you moderate.
