Also, I simply don't believe you can buy something with just one click, certainly not with the official viewer. I just had a look at viewer popup settings, and you simply can't turn off object payment popups. The only warning relating to purchases that you CAN turn off is the warning you get when paying a person or object in busy mode.

Well I have purchased items accidentally & I think its pretty common. I hear about it enough thru group chat & friends. Sometimes you think the pop-up is for something else or your clicking thru messages & click a pop-up. Anyway it DOES happen and its not unusual. Unfortunately whatever I've bought in error has been something I neither want or need lol.

Then it still means you have to click twice for a purchase. You should always get a popup when attempting to make a purchase, hence you will always have to click twice to buy something. You yourself are not denying you get a popup, you're simply saying you might be inattentive sometimes.

I've accidentally bought something I didn't want either, like I said, but it certainly wasn't the viewer's or the creator's fault. It was mine, and mine only.

Never mentioned it being the creator's fault. But lag can certainly be an additional problem within anything in SL, so we don't really know what the situation was with the original poster. There were times I bought something & never got it as well, & never received an answer back from the vendor. That wasn't any fault of mine but still out the lindens. Works both ways. If I had spent A LOT of lindens on the item maybe I'd have pursued it more aggressively. Anyway, the issue is not who's right & who's wrong. The issue is unless you're putting the money directly in someone's hands & getting the item directly back from the creator things can sometimes go awry...and what to do when that happens. Like you when I buy something accidentally I look at it as my own tough luck.

Also, houses are typically no copy, so why he had it copy, no trans is stupid too.

Um. No.

99.9% of all houses in SL are sold as copy ok, no trans. Very few people will buy a house that is no copy because *stuff* happens. You accidentally unlink 200 prims, accidentally re-texture the entire thing with a naughty picture from last night, you accidentally delete it when you were trying to delete that horrible rug you put down and the asset server swallows it whole.... A no copy house is asking for trouble on something that is a very large expense.

I agree that *most* houses in SL are copy/no trans. This could be a boxed up house where the box was no copy, and had a rezbox inside... but yes, some sell stuff with weird permissions. If the OP is corrrect and the seller told him to send the house back, shouldn't he know what kind of permissions he had on it???? That it was no transfer? And delete the house and contact LL for verification that it was deleted!!? A bad person to do business with.

Every time I bought something accidentally, it's been my own fault. Multitasking and/or simply not paying attention. I am willing to accept that SL does weird things sometimes, and that someone has to be the first one this happens to. Before I hear more such stories, I would think that the OP was multitasking and has convinced himself that it wasn't his fault.

Accidental purchases can certainly happen due to inattentiveness, but my feeling is there's really nothing the original poster could do. The idea that one would be 'entitled' to a refund for an accidental purchase just rubs me the wrong way. The creator shouldn't have recommended trying to get verification from Linden Lab, which she never would have gotten, but maybe he was trying to fix a situation that simply couldn't be fixed. To then start an argument with the creator and send friends in when you find yourself banned, I just think is plain wrong.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that, as unfortunate as it may be, if anyone is at 'fault' here it's the customer. Inattentiveness can't be an excuse to demand a refund from a creator. I'd just do a facepalm and move on.

Well Star, my advice is not what you want to hear. Forget it, write it up as a lesson learnt.

You can't blame no other than yourself. You get up a dialog box for "buy". To click happy on things you can't see properly is only your own fault. I know, it sucks. But the seller can't really trust you. What keeps you from taking a copy and rename it, and hide it in another folder, then pretend all innocent?

No transfer means no refund. This should be well known to you.

LL will not get involved in disputes between residents. Frankly, they have better things to do that check peoples inventories for things bought by a mistake. If this was common practice, I can't imagine the flood of abuse reports filed for things ppl didn't mean to buy.

I did just the same this weekend, I was going to buy a skinpack in "Medium". I had the demo, liked what I saw, and wasn't paying attention when I purchased the pack. My avatar had turned and I bough the "Sunkissed" pack instead. I know it's easy to do such mistakes. But, I don't blame anyone else than myself.

Not actually true ("You get up a dialog box for "buy"." - they said they had the blue pop saying money was taken, not a blue pop up asking to buy (at least so far in this thread, maybe thread changes things after this post, I read)). When SL was messed up several weeks ago, I hovered my mouse over an object in a store and suddenly I saw that I had been charged money and that money had gone out of my account. I was never given the opportunity to click buy or not click buy.

Luckily it was only a 25L item.

You're always given an extra dialog to click when you want to purchase something, no?

Not always, no. Sometimes you can tell things are messed up and know not to do anything that could bite you, but sometimes the first sign of that, of SL acting insanely, is when it bites you.

You are assuming it was "inattentiveness." But anyway "facepalms myself," I.....WAS.....EXPLAINING....BASICALLY.....THE.....SAME......ADVICE. The original poster lost a good many lindens & I was kindly offering my advice. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh then we have to go thru this merry-go-around. Go discuss this with someone who feels completely different about it LOL.

Laggy or not, purchases require 2 clicks weather it's a scripted vendor or not. Personally, I would be pretty suspicious if someone complained to me that lag caused them to make a purchase they didn't want to make. I've been in SL going on 3 1/2 years and have never "accidentally' made a purchase.

I would, however, not tell you to delete the item and contact LL like they did, that's just stupid. LL would likely never even respond to that request. More than likely, I would just refund your money and ask you to delete the house and trust that you did, but I would be suspicious that you ripped me off. I might have you teleport me to your land so I knew where you were and check to see if you rezzed the structure though. Someone in an earlier post talked about the amount being alot. In the big scheme of things, less than 10 bucks is not alot of money.

Also, I don't understand why you AR'd the guy to contact LL when a support ticket would have been the proper way to go about it. The guy did nothing wrong, so you shouldn't have AR'd him.

Also, houses are typically no copy, so why he had it copy, no trans is stupid too.

If I were you I'd just cut my losses and forget about it because since the shop owner is unwilling to refund your money, you're likely not going to see it again. Since you're obviously dissatisfied with his service, muting, and banning you from his shop, you can however bad mouth him by word of mouth to your friends. That will ultimately cost him more than refunding you would have.

The cost was 2500L Johan and he wanted it returned to him...knowing it was No Transfer. And FYI...I just filed a Support Ticket on him. His land traffic is 66 if you will read my original post

I wasn't saying we disagreed, I just wanted to explain my thoughts more clearly :)
My previous post wasn't really directed at you specifically, I ended up talking about the issue more generally as well. Sorry for the confusion.

And I'm indeed assuming it's inattentiveness, because in theory it's just not possible to buy something with one accidental click. Maybe there's a viewer bug causing one click purchases, but I'd never heard of that before.

The situation with the original poster is she went to look at houses on this land. She was experiencing lag...she clicked on the house to see the cost of it and next thing she knew there was a blue menu saying "You are about to pay.... .... 2500L for Lakeside Retreat Light" and ONLY a OK button. She did not click the OK button yet has proof in her transaction history that 2500L was taken from her account and given to .... .... . She sent a picture showing... .... that the said house is no longer in her inventory and would have gladly tp'd him to her land to see the house of his is NOT there!

If it was not 2500L I'd not persue this issue...I'd let it rest and chalk it up to lag issues with SL. And it does not matter what viewer you use on SL...lag affects you no matter what viewer you use. I have lost inventory items due to upgrades from LL and never once has a vendor disputed replacing the items in question...no matter what the cost.

I am a bit confused here, FlamingStar. In your first post, you told us that "I" experienced this and "I" lost my money. Now you suddenly write that "She" clicked on a house and the vendor took "Her" money.

Will you care to clarify what you mean? Did you experience this, or was you told it by someone? You suddenly lost a lot of credibility with me here.

I am still willing to believe that weird things can happen, but if there was a scripted item that took money from someone, that is a different issue than you explained in your original post. Some give out scripted items that transfer money from the account. The only way to deal with it, is to log off when you get up a dialogue box that says money is about to be taken from your account.

This sounds like the scammers that come up with a yellow window and has only an "ok" button.

What has his traffic got to do with anything? It varies every day and you can still do decent amount of sales with low traffic, it depends on the percentage that buy when there and how much.

I am confused how this has gone from 'I' to 'She'. Who actually had the transaction problem?

Very few people set the actual house for sale as most would require more than one part, especially at that price, they are normally sold from vendors or boxes and come in rezzers. Sometimes people will accidentally buy the wrong item, but to accidentally purchase without there being the menu to click ok to go ahead with the sale or cancel confuses me.

You have to understand the sellers position, someone buys something then wants their money back unable to return the item. They can't know they aren't being scammed. On the other hand, I normally like to trust the customer and work something with them. I expect attitudes and plausibility come into it.

At the end of the day, a purchase was made and if the seller refuses to refund then not much can be done. LL wont get involved, unless you can prove the item in question is scripted somehow to bypass the buy accepting, then they might take an interest. If this is so, send someone to look at it and AR the item if this is happening.

Some say they are confused as this has gone from "I" to "She" so they wonder if I'm referring to someone else...nope...it's me. I'm the "she" I'm the one it happened to. I'm
