I lurk a lot, but rarely post only chiming in every now and then about bits and bobs.

Sorry to see these forums go , there is a wealth of history, great advice, useful tips and tons of lulz .

I'll probably lurk on the Floggerum but to be honest it's not that easy lurking there (at least I don't find it easy) so you are more likely to find me at home on SLU.

Good luck to all the regulars (and other lurkers) .

EDIT: ooooh 66 posts - maybe I chime in a little more than I thought I did

Hi Olvoll! What have you been up to in SL? Did you just now come back, after joining all those years ago?

Just came back after a 2 1/2 year absence, and I've been busy sorting my inventory and updating my av. There are much better skins, Ao's, clothes, etc. available now than there was then.

Hopefully I can find my niche in-world this time around, or I'll probably end up defaulting back to typical MMO's in a couple months, and I've really come to dislike the typical MMO.

I never posted here as much as i intended to in the beginning. I ended up mostly posting over at SLU. But I feel like I ought to drop by and say goodbye before it's all gone.

That would apply to me! I guess I should add to my teeny post count and say something :)

I found the forums within a few days of joining SL and have been visiting regularly for the past three years. I've learned a lot of things, found some great places to visit and shop, and have always enjoyed reading here.

Hi Ravensong! Glad you posted! Let's get your post count up to 100 in the next few days. Will you be going to the new blogoramaforumthingy? Have you been there yet?

Hi Tyche!

I ran across one of your survey/statistics pages not long ago, and was fascinated. The one on mainland land ownership. Have you met Anya Ristow yet? she does stuff like that. Hers is usually about bots. It's always very informative, and people really do appreciate the time you two take to pull that stuff together. I'm going to post a link - I hope you don't mind. Would love to hear more about that. Like for starters....what the heck possesses you to do that? That's a lot of work!

Hi Oh Fugu! Cute name!

Now is your chance! Say a LOT. or a few tid-bits. What's on your mind this week? We have plenty of time - several days. What have you been up to in SL?

Hi Roo!

What will it take to break the ice? a Ferret Pic? Can we have a Ferret Pic for Roo, please?

Hi Lewis!

That's nice of you to stop by and say goodbye, but we've still got quite a few days to shake things up. You're not off the hook, just yet. Any suggestions? Will you be going to the new blogoramaforumthingy?

Hi Mickey and everyone else.

I've been in Secondlife on and off for a while, but even when i've not been logging into the grid, I have always come here to read the forums, usually in my lunch break at work. I will be sad to see the forums go, not sure where or if I will end up using another forum, I do belong to another but I can't remember which lol, thats how bad I am.

I'm playing Sims 2/Sims 3 more and more now because I like building on there and because sometimes for me SL is one big drama headache. At least on the Sims if someone pisses you off you can delete them hehe.

I guess i'm going to have to look for a new forum home now

Thank you . It's a long story behind why I do that, which I'll cut very short

A long time ago I was bitten by the Count from Sesame Street. That ill-fated sting left me with a deep dark hunger for numbers. I now am cursed to spend my waking hours satisfying my lust and avarice for statistics by hunting down any scrap of data and storing it. Collating SL stats just helps me feed my accursed addiction and temporarily releases me from those blighted urges.

I haven't done a bot survey in more than a year, and I probably couldn't do another if I wanted to. I only counted stupid obvious bots, and the new-ish LL bot policy has encouraged (and was probably intended to encourage) bot runners to make their bots harder to detect. We now have shopping bots, stand-around-a-sploder bots and pretend-to-be-attending-an-event bots, as well as I-loooooove-this-tuuuune! bots in clubs even more numerous than before (I couldn't count those before) and more model-something-that-doesn't-need-modeling bots (I did count those). So any new bot survey would take even longer and would under-count bots substantially and would be a waste of my time. If I had any.

Tyche's surveys are technically a lot more interesting and impressive. I only automated the pick-a-place-to-visit part. Tyche has done a lot more coding than that. I have a couple ideas for some new (non-bot) surveys, and one strategy I considered was, "Ask Tyche to collect this info for me" :)

Looking for Tyche's grid growth survey on SLU has become a Sunday tradition for me. Thanks, Tyche, and it's good to see you post here.

Hi Oh - that delete feature sounds handy! I hope you get to explore your building talents here. Have you used the sandboxes here? I have a few friends who use those, and for the most part, they seem to get along fine, without any drama there.

Also - there is always someone who has an extra lot that is not being used, and all it takes is to send the word out that you're looking for a spot. Tons of fun, once you find that quiet spot. If you would like - we could bust out a call for a spot, right here in forum, before it closes.

Hope you find a new forum home that you like - they're all listed here, in some of the other threads. Can't say that I can recommend the blogoramaforumthingy - it's a tad sterile and boring. I'm sure it works if you have a basic question. Good Luck with your building! :)

There could be worse addictions! Your stats give great insight. I would think that most of us would rather see it come from a resident, too. If it weren't for a few people like you, taking all that time to do so....the real picture would be a tad distorted. Thank you. :)

I've been an avid reader of RA Forums for almost 5 years although have rarely posted I still feel very much a part of this very unique Community.

I've known the regular posters of my early years just as I've got to know the regulars of today. I've learned so much knowledge of Second Life here from people with hands on experience than any brief KB could answer. I've kept up with the gossips, rotating arguments, survey requests, insightful topics, insults and affection.

Our forum controls were broken, it wasn't perfect, but it was our home.

Perhaps if all the silent readers could post even once it would surprise the Lindens just how large our true Community really is for we know how appealing large numbers are to LL.

Hi Lesley! Thank you for sharing your thoughts about how the "silent readers" are part of the community, too. Even the loud-mouths are silent readers some weeks. :)

Thanks for the reminder, that the community spreads much farther, than what face value implies.....and I hope your thoughts encourage some others to chime in. I'll keep bumping the thread, for their opportunity, and on the last day, I'll ask Scylla to send it to the Lindens...it appears that her presentation style is working over there, at that blogoramaforumthingy, much better than the rest of us. :) That gal has come a long way since her first thread!

I knew it! But thanks for fessing up. Montana Man has been out of sorts, and I will relay this message, and explain to him that it is all for the sake of the community. Whatever it takes....you go right ahead!

Anya, I didn't realize that it had been a year since then....time does fly. I got a lot of insight out of your studies - thanks a bunch. Would love to see more studies from you and Tyche - they are valuable on a variety of levels, to many different types of people. I know that your time is limited now, though.
