Should have done this a long time ago, but my invitation to the "welcoming" committee got lost in the spam folder (for some reason).
This is for all those who read every day, and were planning on piping up, "someday." The day is NOW.
Post whatever you like.....I've got your back covered....from start to finish. Say Hi....tell why you think SL is cool....tell why you think YOU are cool......give Jig a good thread topic....ask someone wtf they are talking about...give some suggestions for starting "spicey" threads in the new forum.....you name it!
No personal insults, or attacks please, and no armchair psychoanalysis....unless, of course, I have to resort to that, to cover your back. I may be gone for time periods, for work, play, eating, and sleeping. During those time periods, I would like to appoint Lindal, Brenda, Peggy, Melita, Anya, Lias, and Ann to cover your backs. (Sorry menfolk, you're not tough enough for this assignment.)

I think everyone is in bed. My brain is already there, maybe I will think of something witty to say tomorrow.

I'm at 991... i'm planning to end at 1000, seems reasonable. Maybe 1000 seems like a reasonable post count... but remember my age... So do I belong in this thread?

Wow! I have really lurked forever and learned so much in all that time from so many of you. I have totally enjoyed getting to "know" each and every one of you from your posts and hope to run into you all again someday... somewhere. Thanks for the knowledge you have shared, the laughs and the tears and even the posts that pushed my buttons. Hahahaha.

From: Mickey Vandeverre Fun! Do you have any good roleplay sims to recommend? Or should you keep those secret? Hi Mickey. I also should thank you for starting this thread!! What a great idea it was. My story… LOL. Well.... I came to SL because a RL friend I worked with suggested I join. She finally convinced me by telling me it was like FaceBook or My Space. OMG did she lie to me! It was not what I was expecting at all and I was soooo lost when I first got here and ran into some really interesting characters. After the first hour of that, I logged off and didn’t log back in for almost 2 weeks. I didn’t know what I had gotten myself into! My friend convinced me to try again and I did. I found her in world and she introduced me to a friend of hers. From there, I found a place to hang out and met some really great people who I am still in contact with most of them daily. I also met a really nice guy who attempted to teach me how to make things which I really enjoyed but easily got frustrated and gave up on that for a while. We are still friends to this day and he is quite impressed with what I can do now compared to when we first met and so am I! A couple of my friends have had clubs over the last couple of years and currently the club where I hang out is called Aloha Friday on the Tapioca sim. They have a great mix of people there and a mix of music as well. There are usually 2 events daily and a contest board and sploder if that’s your thing. Many of my friends DJ so I go to a variety of clubs when they TP me. I always said I wouldn’t “work” in SL because I work enough in RL. Two of my friends that have a club were short a host one night and asked me to fill in…. so now I do that as a favor to them when they need me. It’s worked out well so far. Other things I do is work on my parcel – I didn’t get into the land ownership/having a home until June of last year. I have finally gotten more patient and comfortable modifying and adjusting things so it’s coming along really well. I’ve managed to stay out of drama which works well for me. Don’t get me wrong – it’s been around me – just not involving me. LOL I love shopping too and have really gotten into freebie hunting and also have done several hunts the last couple of months. My inventory is a mess and has tons of stuff I haven’t seen in over a year or so that I need to spend some time cleaning out. That always seems like an endless task so I try to spend an hour doing that then move on to something else. I wish I had known as a n00b to make folders and keep things organized. Now I make myself file the stuff the same day I get it so it’s gotten better. I’m almost at 40k now in my inventory so I do need to spend time cleaning it out. I also like to wander around and see all of the impressive builds that are out there. I have only come across 2 people from the forums in world at this point and that was Lindal at a club I used to go to a while back and Smify once when I was wandering around Zindra. Lindal was the first I saw and I was really excited so finally see someone from the forums in world. Anyway, I hope to see lots more familiar names in world and if you see me – say hi. Thanks again Mickey.

Thank you for sharing your story Susu! Sounds like you've done a little bit of everything. Way to go!
Curious why you logged off for a few weeks in the beginning? Was it weird and scary at the place you landed when you began?
On that inventory thing....start organizing now! It will get so out of hand, that it will drive you insane later on.

LOL I was quite freaked out by it - seemed like every avatar I ran into was a guy walking around with their attachments on and asking for sex. This was at an amusement park too. I wasn't warned by my friend and SL was not what I expected at all. I finally learned to laugh at that and was lucky to run into a different group of people who weren't quite into just that and was not the first thing out of them.

I go back and visit my old home ports once in a while - it's been interesting since they introduced voice - but I can see where the introduction could be alarming, and not what you expected. Glad you came back after that. Thanks for the reminder that you're dropped off into a sea of attachments. Not cool. I'll go back to the home places in the next few days, and try to nab some people out of that crud. I bet some others will, too. Thanks Susu

Even a NOOB can see this. Why doesn't LL??? You should be a consultant, SuSu. I know a clueless bunch in San Francisco that could use your keen insight. And, welcome to the Forums, though we'll only be here another week.

I'm nowhere near as old as my avi's Born on Date (tm) would indicate. I'd say maybe 200 active days total, as a guess. I peruse the.... Resident Answers, think the main forum used to be called something else.... pretty much every day though, when I'm spending time in SL.

Did you just now come back, after joining all those years ago?

Do you have any prying questions? Any suggestions for the Lindens? You know, about 4 or 5 of them pop into this forum almost every day after lunch time in Cali.....and read a few threads. Worth a shot!

That would apply to me! I guess I should add to my teeny post count and say something I found the forums within a few days of joining SL and have been visiting regularly for the past three years. I've learned a lot of things, found some great places to visit and shop, and have always enjoyed reading here.
