Disappearing threads: WTF?

Not in your post but there may have been enough innuendo and information about some account names in some of the responses that were enough to violate the spirit of the "naming names" prohibition.

I didn't see the thread in question but I do know that one of the few actions Aki took when she was moderating was deleting a post (not mine) which did not name names or mention lawsuits. It just obliquely advanced a theory that a forum poster was the alt of an alt of a person who has been banned from RA. I assume the post was removed because of a strenuous AR by the person indirectly accused/outed.

I am with Desmond, I think this thread was removed because of strenuous ARs, possibly by people well-known to the Lindens due to the scale of their investments. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that lawyers are involved. I incline more toward simple bad judgement by a moderator.

I hope that this faceless moderation policy is just the consequence of someone who is new at their job and doesn't understand; perhaps they spoke to Aki about useful moderation techniques?

Because it sucks.

I feel obliged to say that when Qie and I made moderation proposals to the Lindens, they included provisions for MORE transparency than Strife provided (who at least commented when he locked, and could not delete). Instead, we now have completely opaque moderation. This denies the moderator him/herself valuable feedback on the rationale for their decisions. It is completely arrogant, and serves no-one, including the Lindens.

I sure do wish the Lindens, or moderators would make some statement about forum moderation policy going forward.
