I'm a bit out of it when it comes to who's who on the avatar makers scene, possibly due to my sl age and limited free time in second life. But I've always loved seeing the avatars that people are making and selling. Can someone bring me up to speed? Have you bought a cool avatar lately? Furry, mecha..anything. (Snapzilla picture links would be great too)

(Snapzilla picture links would be great too) The *best* place lately is Grendel's Children, in Avaria Tor, run by Flea Bussy, Psyra Extraordinaire, and others. Some amazing stuff there, mostly mythological/fantasy. Some great dragons, too. I have a number of Flea's avvies, an while I dun use em often, each is a work of art. Psyra's work (and the blackfeather avvies, which are also in Avaria, I believe) are also very cool. Some quick Snapz digging: Flea Bussy's Work: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=143195http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=144252http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=186378http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=162958http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=173015http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=173291http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=174112http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=186303Psyra Extraordinaire's Work: http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=155830http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=180870Blackfeather (WeaselPaws Darkes, I believe?): http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=147960(This avvie is to pretty much to scale, btw non-solicited comment: if you like unique avatars, and haven't been shopping there - TP to Avaria Tor now. You will not be disappointed! Mari

- Kazuhiro Aridian's avatars come to mind - she has a store in Saijo City, I believe. The whole experience of checking it out is incredible. - The Wastelands - This mostly a post-apocalyptic residential/RP area, but the lengths to which residents here will customize their avatars are extensive. Appropriate to the far future post-apocalyptic setting, technology is blended with wear and tear in many cases. Think Mad Max, Fallout, Judge Dredd, Tank Girl, et al.

From: Ingrid Ingersoll Have you bought a cool avatar lately? Furry, mecha..anything. Since Anything is in the criteria, Abranimations has a great Avatar similar in appearance to the ED2000 (think Robocop). There is a fantastic Predator AV out there from another merchant. Can't think of her name at the moment. Her main store is closed for renovation, but she has a franchise at Samurai island, where i saw it recently. Unfortunately it is a male AV, but she was nice enough to leave the body shape mod, so I morphed one into a female Predator for myself. The store is called Unveiled (or something close to that... can't check offline). The above merchant also does a wonderful skeleton AV. She makes extensive use of invisiprims so there is a huge bit of alpha channel conflict. But, it's still a great skeleton. I'll toss in another vote for Werehouse. Jakkal's AV's are amazing. Then there is Darkdharma. Some of her newer AV's are Captain Jack Sparrow (you have to see it to believe it... it's that good). And 2 elderly couples, also up to her normal high quality standards.

The Best Looking Avatars I've seen come from Mekan (werewolf, mythical) and 6ixth Sense (Robot, mythical). When thinking cool avatars, those two popped in my head immediately.

My favorites are my dragon av from Isle of Wyrms (although I keep missing the sale dates for the adult versions) and my tinies (cow, bunny, cat) from ExtroVirtual.

Only have one non-human av and she's a Lava Dragon from Grendel's Children. I purchased it in 2007, so does that count as new? ~Ari

Shameless self-advertising: Dark Delights sells demon avatars (Succubus / Incubus), centaurs and all needed parts for tentacle creatures (the latter is a joint venture with Devil Made Me Do It). All our avatars include functional genitals, and in case of the centaur also poseball sets. The prim attachment like demon wings, tentacles or centaur bodies are fully animated.

I love the Grendel's Children dragons. An ya, I *think* you can be pretty sure that a 2007 avatar would fit in a thread titled "Avatar makers circa 2006-2007?? Mari"

All I know is that I saw this dragon and HAD to have it My whole in-world family has dragon avvies of various sorts. We could have quite the little roast! The Grendel dragons are new since the move to Avaria. I got lucky and got my elder the day she came out. Mari

I am a total Furry Avatar Hollic. This month i purchased a Aventity Female Purple Fox, and one of their Purple Huskies, i bought a Avatar of Amy Rose, i grabbed 3 new free furry avs that came into existence lately, bought a Fuzzy Things Purple Fox, Mutation Industries Female Lavender Sphynx, uchi's Female Pink Moufette (skunk), and I'm currently in the process of building my own Ratonga Avatar. I love purple, what can i say? I've seen some really awsome avatars come out since the sculpted prims introduction, and i am seriusly glad to know that theres some very talented people out there working hard on improving how SL's Furries look. One day i hope they make a new Wolf avatar that looks cuter then mine. My persona is a wolf and I'm still using a 2 year old avatar i heavily modded.
