First Land once = the way it's supposed to work. First Land, Sell, First Land, Sell, First Land, Sell ad infinitum = exploitable flaw. 'Regular' Land, Sell, First Land = nice idea but open to exploitation. Personally I would recommend to LL that the First Land program be modified so that each Premium account is assigned a 512 sqm plot of first land upon creation and that it cannot be sold until 90 days after the date of creation of that account.

Doesn't seem a bad idea to me, but I feel that "old" premium accounts who never bought First Land should be entitled to get a plot, too. For them, the 90 days should start from the day they get their plot.

From: Reece Gunawan There's a whole bunch of first land listed up at the moment. If you don't have land and are reading this, I'd recommend you do a search fast! EDIT: All gone Wow. 22 minutes! This is the second or third batch of land that I've heard of showing up around 9 or 10 PST. Unfortunately that's just after midnight EST! I'll have to keep my eyes open next time I'm on late. Thanks for posting, Reece!

Finally got a parcel of FL. It's on a hillside, I'm not even sure where it is in the world, but it's mine . I tried to post a heads up for everyone here but the seven or eight parcels that came up were gone in less time than it took me to create a new post. From the four or five datapoints I have now, it seems as though late afternoon through 8 or 9 PM PST are prime times for land to show up. It could be complete coincidence, but the few times I've either seen it come up or heard about it being available it has been in those times. Good luck in your searches everyone. It's like hitting the lottery; I was very lucky to finally hit search at the right time. (I don't take back anything I said, btw. The system still should be better. The fact that I was lucky enough to find FL doesn't change that.)

I'm fairly new to SL and got my premium account a few days ago... got my firstland on my third try. First, I had to wait for some to be listed, so I came back to the game every few hours to check. The first time I teleported over, I took my time examining the land parcels... mistake... NO TIME to do that! By the time I wanted to purchase, it was all sold. Second time firstlands came up, I didn't manage to teleport right away but kept trying. Finally got in but last 2 parcels got purchased before I could do it. Third time, I teleported in first try and bought the first place I stood on. Luckily, it ended up being a not too bad location, with one side of me being maintenance, unowned land.
Will this maintenance land beside me be sold eventually as well? If everyone around my land parcel decided to put up privacy borders, does that mean I could only fly in and out of my land by going way up high? That would suck.

You could set your Home position on your land, and them simply teleport in and out of your parcel. Or create a Landmark there and use that to quickly access your property.

Yes, you would be land-locked. Roadside and waterfront land that borders a governor linden waterway (collectively known as "protected" land) is significantly more expensive for this reason. However one disadvantage of roadside land is that it is often irregularly-shaped. This is because LL likes to draw roads on the diagonals, which, on the small scale of your little parcel, means the edge alongside the road will have an inconvenient saw-tooth pattern. Roads do sometimes go N-S or E-W, but not for very long, in my observation. If that makes you feel any better. EDIT to clarify definition of protected land.
