If you want to sell it quick put it for sale at around 10 $L 10 per square meter, although at that price it may be a bargin for the next purchaser.

If you desperatly want to get rid of the land then you should IM a land baron and they will buy it, but you will obviously loose money. Even if you only own the land for 1 day you will still need to pay the tier until the end of your current billing period. Make sure you then manually tier down to 0 sqm or you will be charge for another month at 4096 sqm.

From your previous posts, english is not your first language. There are many communities within SL that are German and French based. I know the German community has even gone as far as to ahve thier own Help Island (or is it a Welcome Area?).

Searching for these places may help as people can explain all the little details in a language that is not as confussing to you. English is my first language and I'll be the first to admit it sucks to translate.

The 25 USD a month is not for the land. It's TAXES. Like in the real world, we must pay taxes. Real world is for road upkeep, fire and police service, etc etc. Here in Second Life it is for server upkeep, bug fixes, and continual work on the programming running the world.

If you can not pay the fee from over-reaching your budget, you will ahve to do as John suggested. Sell as quickly as you can. You have 30 days from your purchase of the land, because you are going to be charged that 25 USD for the first month no matter what. I would advise contacting Dreamland land sales, or one of the other bigger landbarons if you need to sell quickly. You are probably going to take a loss, but most landbarons will give you a decent payment that will get the land off your hands quickly.

When you bought the land, you were warned, right on your screen, that you would have to pay the tier for it.

If you didn't bother to read that page that popped up before you confirmed it, that is YOUR fault. If you didn't bother to find out what tier was BEFORE confirming that purchase, it is YOUR fault.

YOU made this mistake. It is no one's fault but your own that you just clicked through pages without finding out what was going on. You paid money with no idea what you were doing, That was very foolish.

As you can't afford the amount of land you have bought, either sell it on, or you could split it up and keep 512 (no monthly fee) and sell the rest. You could also work out how much you can afford each month and sell the rest if you want more than 512 of land.

Where are the ResMods? They are always quick to shut down polite debate, but this guy gets on here and uses gutter language and nothing is done.

Where is this FREE land you speak of? Before I went premium, I read all I could and didn't see any mention of Free land. And even though it's a decent brgain, I wouldn't committ to a year for any type of online game/activity. Before you pay for anything, READ the terms. Caveat Emptor. I have sent private messages to a couple of the moderators regarding this thread, since that was recommended by Strife when I asked in the second turtleneck post why obscene and abusive language was being allowed in the forums while comments about Philip's turtlenecks were locked in a flash. Hopefully something will be done about it.

(I would argue that people are reading your text more carefully than you did when you subscribed to a premium account.)

That's a good question. If it's there, I haven't seen it. With the influx of international members it would be nice to see something like that featured prominently to clear up confusion among those for whom English is not their first language.

Exactly right there is NO difference between buying land or Renting land, you pay each month for your land, usually Islands are the same or cheaper than Lindens especially when you are in the 6-7k range of land. The ONLY DIfference is that if you "BUY mainland land you can do whatever you want with you land If you want a purple and pink tower 300 meters tall sprouting particles all over you can do that, just be aware that so can every single one of your neighbors, afterall it IS their land. If they want casinos, clubs, malls, rotating ad signs, they can do that, If tehy want 100 meter tall walls they can do that
If they want Ban lines all around you, they can do that,
Residential Islands are for homes and are protected as such, Commercial Islands are commercial and care is taken that resources are fairly shared.
Islands are def more attractive to help meet your desires especially in a residential setting but you do need to take care that you arent going to be taken in my a scam artist, Make sure the people you have land dealings with are respected and trustworthy.

The bottom line is:
A charge each month is going to happen no matter how you have your land.

As a relative newbie here, I have to say that I have purchased land and have gone up a tier, but it has always be extremely clear what I was doing - at each point I was about to spend money or commit myself to paying a monthly fee the warnings were always there - very detailed - all stating exactly what I was about to commit to, and I was always given the chance to decline. At the same time, all of these warnings were in English, and if that were not my first language I could see where it *MIGHT* be possible to mistake "covenant" for "commitment" - but I'm not sure.

LL should probably consider giving some of these messages in different languages - but at the same time, if you didn't speak the language too well, why would you continue clicking past messages you did not understand?
