Actually, home schoolers do need to get permission from school districts so that if the child isn't in school with nothing on file the parents don't get charged for truancy. If it were that easy, then why are they only working with some states and not all, if you just just enroll and go? Because the state and local school districts work with the program. Read up on it, if you are gonna quote it. It depends on the state law as to a family requiring permission to home school. In Kentucky, a parent does not need permission from anyone to home school their child. Of course the teacher's unions hate this.........but if they were doing their jobs it would not be an issue. |

Beg to differ: http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=KY http://www.hslda.org/laws/analysis/Kentucky.pdf You must submit information to the local board. There is also more information on how or why that information can be denied (i.e. there are no adults present at the standard hours required). And can you blame the smart individual for not teaching... 20k a year is barely above poverty line. _____________________

heres my advice...

Tomorrow as soon as your oldest child is off to school, hit the net and get as much info on your disability as possible, you may even qualify for social security benefits. You should be able to get unemployment insurance as well.
Then stop paying any bills you have that don't provide your necessities, save whatever cash you have and RUN to a bankruptcy attorney to save your house. Then bundle up that younger one and hit the school district office and demand a real math book for your older child, that's ridiculuos that they have to be on line in the 5th grade to get a general education. Most kids that age aren't even allowed on the net. Then cut up every credit card you own and learn to live on cash, you'd be amazed how much you can save doing that, i have paid off all my credit cards in the last 3 years and god they were huge, and have a sizable savings account now. If it takes moving to another state to find work, then i cant imagine anyone awarding custody of your children to your X for that reason, so id start looking in Monster for jobs in other areas and start sending out resumes for the both of you. Take the bull by the horns girl and let us know how you make out, we really do care..its just that we have all been in your situation at least once, and we made it out and so will you...but you have to learn that one yourself, you are the only one that can make a permanent difference in your on life, never lay down and be your own victim. |

yep, your right, i did write the article in June of 2006. It is now December....... My job went bye bye in september. dont have credit cards.. Havent had one in years. Dont have luxury expenses. Never have. Dont have a car payment either. Stopped the life insurance coverage too.
You guys are the ones keeping this going. Not me. I simply put the original thread out hoping someone would tell me how to ask for donations. There are those who get on SL and sit in chairs to ask for money. I wanted to know how to actually ask for money... you can spend day and night trying to "poke holes" in my situation. But in the end, its all still the truth. I will find out how to ask for money on SL. Because some how some way we are going to get back on track. The fact is we simply ran out of cash. If we had credit cards, I could do like most americans do and simply charge everything and get real far into debt. But, I live in a cash world. And when the well runs dry - you hvae to find a way to fill it again. What I have said on my original thread is 110% true and accurate. I dont lie. I dont have to. Maybe sales will start for our webstore soon. maybe not. maybe my grandmother just left us some money - not likely as she was a poor woman who came here from the ukraine and died poor in a nursing home. yes, she was buried yesterday and no, I was not able to go. nothing I can do about that now. what i have learned and heard loud and clear here is simple. For most part, people dont want to help other people. They would rather spend their time telling you why they wont rather then think, hey, that could be me one day. Well, one day my cash flow will be great again and when someone needs help, you can be rest assured i will help them. Not to spite you all, but because I know first hand what it feels like to spend all day and all night wondering and worrying. I think its time for you all to stop posting on this thread now. |

my son is in 7th grade. not 5th. and in this district, they did that due to lack of money in the school district to actually purchase hardcover books.
the courts in this state are so bad, that they even limit how far you can move away from your ex. its got to be the absolute dumbest thing in the world but they are getting away with it. and as far as awarding custody to my ex if he were to find out about my financial situation, well, one of the best interest of the child steps is - the ability to finacially support your child. guess what - he wins i lose. I will get out of this situation trust me. one way or another. because where there is a will, there is a way, and there is a definite will here. I asked you all for help. not to be chastised. |

Moonbeam- What we think should be UTTERLY INSIGNIFICANT to you. Get your priorities in order, you have far more pressing concerns to focus on. Short term... SecondLife might earn you a few pennies of profit... but not the dollars you need. Forget us and focus on pursuing effective solutions to your problems. -- This is not a forum for airing dirty laundry. |

believe what you all want, the fact is, my situation is all to true for me. so if anyone can figure out how to come up with 20,000 within two weeks time, please let me know. If your in $20K debt in just 3 months time,(your job ended in Sept.) seems to me you have been living pretty high on the hog, being as your current husband is still employed and there is at least one income coming in, as well as the "small" disability and most probably child support your receiving, it appears you may be doing better than most. As far as you moving to another state, i don't see how your X has a leg to stand on, trying to keep you where you are if he has no visitation rights. Now if you want to sit on your rear and play SL all day and beg for money thats your business, but don't insult the rest of us that are probably living on less than you are and making ends meet. I wasn't chastising you in my earlier post, but i think i am now, and for good reason. If you have been so charitable in the past, i suggest you contact those same agencies now for help, if you cant get help because you make too much money, sorry but i cant but feel your asking ppl for help that are most surely in a worse place than you are. We make our own luck in this world, and i think its time you woke up and smelled the coffee. |

Well, considering you wrote you make 52k a year, and your combined income if 125k a year, I'd be MORE than happy to live off 75k a year from my husband. Silly me, I'm stuck living off 22k, because my situation with my roommate and I (long story), he's military. E-5 Air Force, supporting me and my son, with my menial 10k.

And for a home school this information consists soley of a letter to the local school board informing them that the child is being homeschooled. Read your links. The local officials are not even allowed to inspect a home school without a warrent. Teachers in the county I live in start at $36,000 and average $38,000 in pay. Well above the income of the average county resident. So the productive citizens are being taxed to overpay the unproductive. If you get right down to it, public schools are a form of child abuse, google John Taylor Gatto or go to this site for the truth about public schools. http://johntaylorgatto.com/chapters/index.htm |

<snip> I will find out how to ask for money on SL. Because some how some way we are going to get back on track. <snip> what i have learned and heard loud and clear here is simple. For most part, people dont want to help other people. They would rather spend their time telling you why they wont rather then think, hey, that could be me one day. Up until now, I have stayed out of all of this, but not anymore. I don't care how many people in Second Life you ask for a handout, there is a much larger issue which you have either failed, or deliberately refused, to address: You have been given the tools to get the help you need, freely, without reservation, in this thread. "Some way" you are going to get back on track has already been handed to you on a silver platter. Are you using those resources? I don't care one whit for what you have or have not done in the past, that's the past. You have today. And every day afterwards. What are you doing right now other than expecting us to give you cash? Those who are not willing to do a thing to help themselves, not only are very unlikely to be given whatever they want just because, but at least 99% of the time, don't deserve to get it. My income is just barely above $600 a month. Maybe I should be asking everyone on SL for a handout too, instead of doing something on my own to change it, since that seems to be the route you think will get your life turned around. |
