The mercilessly carved plots, unsightly ads and ugly builds that typify much of the Mainland had me appreciating the Mainland I know of that is still mostly pretty and habitable. Two sims that spring to mind are Mahulu with its lush dark green terra and dramatic volcano and my home sim of Carlisle, an isle with mostly attractive landscaping and builds.
What other mainland sims are you proud to call home or are favorite places to visit? If there was ever a time to talk up the Mainland, this is it, before it's all abandoned for estates with understandably implemented zoning rules.

Seacliff, Imperial, Lusk, Perry, Clara and Gibson are all eyesore-free locations on the mainland. Gimme a few minutes to rub my braincell and I'll come up with a few more.

Off the top of my head, Saphira is a great southern continent sim, owned entirely by a group of creative people. Also Sukhareva, my home sim, is quite nice, with little commerce and mostly personal builds on large plots. We are in the process of making roads; they already connect three large plots, and if another land owner gets in, there could be road outlets on three sides of the sim.

Quickly adds Darkwood and Tehama to the list of 'unspoilt' sims.

Come have a look at our land in Kishijoten.... it's the huge forest parcel with the lookout tower. We've kept the land almost totally forested and are developing a hiking trail and other visitor-friendly stuff.

Bodega is nice. The Forest of Kahruvel stretches over several sims (Rodeo, Davenport, Cowell, et al). There are lots of nice sims.

We are slowly converting Han Loso with its crater lake to a beautiful spot. There are drums to play and platforms to hang out on. As well, its dragon friendly so those people with dragon Avs can swoop around the crater.

Some nice building and landscaping both in Macclane and (west) Bradmoor. We've got a small group out to beautify our corner of the world.

Watarrka Park is still in its glory, though the magnificient water-view just gave way to a surreal vision (especially at night) of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's eyes staring at me from the side of a giant building with the word "OBEY."

Theres the Faerie Garden in tiretta as well, which is almost half a sim now...and growing. i think if a few more could get involved in thinking the mainland as an opportunity instead of a blight.....we could have a beatuiful mainland. kinda of like "if everyone planted a tree......????"

How about stopping at Robin's Nest in Frontenac? A few places to sit and think about life, first or second.

the city sims; Miramare, Barcola, Grignano and Sistiana.
while it may not be completely groovy, most of the city is owned by Resis who want to preserve and facilitate the "city" feel, as well as having a coherent experience while you're there.
(now, if i could only get something done right on my land there, i'd be happy!)

A small embryonic group has been set up called the Mainland Hiking Society for the purpose of
a) identifying possible hiking trails on the mainland from 10 minutes to 2 hours. b) encouraging members to produce short guides in notecard form that walkers can use when following these trails, including a starting LM, photos and directions. c) distributing these guides via the group and the hiking center to those interested in walking them.
All non-profit, hopefully if any of you are interested then please search for the Mainland Hiking Society or IM Zippy Cortes in Game. A sample hiking trial can be found already in the group notices.

I think Freelon definitely qualifies. Generally I think the older sims tend to be well kept and I think that's because eventually sims get absorbed by those who stay put in them for a long time. Newer sims, with more transient residents are more likely to see a rapid rate of change which leaves them more eyesore prone. Mainland sims reward the patient who are willing to wait out neighbors they may not care for aesthetically.

You shouldn't have said there are no "mercilessly carved plots, unsightly ads and ugly builds" in Carlisle, I will bet spydermann and the rest of the Ad Farmers and Land Cutters are there right now looking for their next plot to kill!!

I'm trying to make Bagat a nice place to live in. That's why I bought most of the region. Land is available for rent only.
I'm not 100% there yet, but I think it's shaping up quite OK, as mainland regions go.
