Evil Plot, or Tuesday Comes Early?

been seeing alot of these errors again recently, and it's got me thinking....

on one hand we can assume that all the dire 1 week emergency notice was generated by the expectation of such problems... unfortunately that means that noone was paying attention to such things, and a last minute effort to save face for the oversight was quickly tossed out... hmmm

on the other hand if we assume it's an evil plot to move forumites over here, it seems pretty weak, unless it's a convenient way to say "see we told you it was urgent", and maybe generate some sympathy, or just scare the forumites off.

or it could just be a random error... after all the wiki was down earlier...

thoughts? other options? =)

I figured they were trying to make this place so bad that we would be happy it closed.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised to not see an army of linden alts and alts of xstreet top sellers come in here and thread crap on us like they did at a certain other place in its last days...

I too have been concerned it would close early.

I've been even more concerned it wouldn't close at all after all these gut wrenching (if temporary) farewells.

I am not getting 500 errors yet though.

I should also add that I'm getting huge slowdowns from the forum, and even some minor blips from the blog

Or they may be messing around with the servers in an attempt to actually (prepare to) archive things in a usable format.

There might be more than one person trying to archive the forums on their own, thus slowing things down.

Perhaps LL is backing things up.

My theory: As the reality of what were are about to lose sinks in, a number of regulars are reading and posting more often than usual. I know I am.

It's an evil plot to stop weekend postings getting out of hand, especially after people engage in a beer or two. They've started it early so it doesn't appear such an obvious tactic!

Been dysfunctional for an hour or so this morning, hours after the status report states the problem was fixed.

Folks will have given up, so the effects persists after the technical problem is solved.

It would probably make more sense to start a new thread for your problem rather than add a reply to a thread that's on a completely different topic.

Trying to solve your problem is much more effective if you supply information about your computer system, such as
brand and model of computer,
what operating sytem,
amount of ram,
brand and model of video card,
amount of video ram,
what kind of internet service you have,

and other such pertinent info.

1) Start a thread under Technical Issues.
2) Describe the problem again as you did here.
3) Open SL but don't login. Go to Help > About Second Life. Select all the text in the top box, and copy and paste it into your new thread. (this is the info people need in order to help you.)

You realize Blue has closed this as "resolved" "under advisement" (which is BS).

That is sensible, therefore not probable. Pulling the plug early is the sort of scumbag move I could see coming from M and Co.
