From: Ciaran Laval People are lazy, that's why I also suggested making it more troublesome to sell land to anyone than it is to a named avatar, there would be less of this if that were the case, also it would be easier if the way of transferring land, as detailed in this thread: /327/3d/174599/1.htmlcould be done in a more intuitive fashion. Nowhere in the land sales window are people warned that someone who isn't in your view can buy the plot, people, especially new people, think in terms of a physical presence and with nobody else around they don't see the dangers. Yeah, but the basic principle that if I don't mind who buys my land for L$1 I set it to sell to anyone, and if I want to make sure I sell it only to Ciaran Laval, I set it to sell to Ciaran Laval, seems pretty intuitive. It shouldn't be too difficult for most people to grasp, surely?

It's not difficult, they just think they can get away with it before anyone else shows up. Land swooping happened before there was bots, people still made mistakes. Pretty much no amount of changes will stop someone who won't read the warnings.

It shouldn't be too difficult for most people to grasp, surely? As Cristalle states, they think they'll get away with it before anyone else shows up. We see this everyday in RL in scenarios such as people running across the road instead of walking an extra twenty yards to a crossing, cars going through lights that have just turned red because they don't want to waste sixty seconds waiting for the sequence to change, yadda yadda yadda. People do silly things and they lack patience, the new viewer is due to people not being able to get their head around the UI here, I don't see the big issue with navigating around but others clearly do, so LL are making it easier for them, they should make transferring land easier too, although with the current price of mainland it's not the issue it once was.

You are given a warning that anyone, even people in other regions, can buy the land if you set it for sale to anyone.

Fair point, see even I'm lazy, I've stopped paying attention to that message because I know what's going to happen, but unless you're aware that bots exist you don't expect them to arrive from the other region before the person standing next to you has had a chance to buy it.

This is exactly the problem. The exact text of the "warning" reads: "ATTENTION: Clicking 'sell to anyone' makes your land available to the entire Second Life community, even those not in this region."There *is* a clue in there - the part about "even those not in this region." But it's only obvious to those of us aware of land bots. To those not aware of land bots, it says nothing about someone swooping in to *instantly* buy the land. There is no warning that says: "If you actually wish to sell your land to a specific buyer, you must set it for sell to them. Otherwise, your land may be sold to anyone, even within literally seconds, to someone else before your intended buyer has a chance to purchase it for themselves."THAT warning doesn't exist.

From: Qie Niangao In this particular case, I'm more concerned with what's "bad for" sims than for people. See, if I were in the land-flipping business and Search listings were delayed by five minutes, I'd have a flock of bots like the grid has never seen, checking every Mainland parcel just as fast as they could, trying to find land for sale at or below the price where my competitors would buy once the listings hit Search. Sure, it could be throttled, but consider how slow About Land is now when the grid is lagging even slightly. If you put in a delay on search, it would make sense to have that delay be universal - also delay it showing through About Land and delay the parcel as showing as 'for sale.' Ie: You click sell, and get a 10 minute counter, and it doesn't go up for sale for 10 minutes. Though I think 10 minutes is a bit too long. I'd go for 1, couple it with adding a transfer button, and an option in account options to remove the 1 minute delay on your land sales (so that people who sell land often don't need to run with the 'safety' on). - both sell and transfer would then take 1 minute to go into effect, and be cancel-able for that 1 minute. Likewise, buy would give you a 1 minute timer to 'return for refund.' - But the setting in account options to remove the sell timer would also remove the buy timer. No removing one or the other, both or neither. Put in account options so they could put a restriction on changing it too often.

What about a button that says " do you wish someone to come and hold your hand and walk you through this sale so you dont forget to read the instructions that are written in front of you"

That would be nice, yes. Except that later Feline would boil me in oil. And Eveline would set her tiger on Chris. Better not risk it.

From: Chris Norse I propose that from now on, no one can sell any land until LL sends a rep to the seller's house to hold the seller's hand while they press the "For Sale" button. Quoteable

From: Brenda Connolly Then people would want a "Do you REALLY wish someone to come and hold your hand and walk you through this sale so you dont forget to read the instructions that are written in front of you" button. Ok you have a point there so we need a button after the hold hand button stating what you said . Then maybe a contract can be printed out you have to sign in your own blood and fax off to LL before it can proceed

Oh come on, a transfer land button can't be that hard, the code is already there, all they need is a button that takes you straight to the sell to a named resident list and gives you no option of selling to anyone. This shouldn't be difficult.

From: artifactsofmars Omegaman I got f***** out of my land AND lost a friend to boot. This is the part I don't get. After your "friend" didn't get your land cheap she decided that she didn't want to be your friend any more?
