Tech Question to those who know

I think you're confusing BIOS (the software that drives the motherboard, at an ultra low level. This is the software that decides how much voltage to power your processor with) with DOS (the low-level part of older versions of Windows).

Windows Vista certainly does require the motherboard it runs on to have a BIOS

yup. you are right about my acronyms being mixed up regarding the operating system. thanks for straightening me out. dont mess with BIOS or fdisk, that's all i know.

i dont have to worry about DOS anymore. thankfully.

Actually technically you were right - BIOS stands for Basic Input-Output Service, which did used to mean low level routines for accessing disks, but most motherboard companies now use it to mean the entire motherboard firmware which does lots of other critical things too.

And no, don't mess about with fdisk either, a messed up partition table is baaaad

Thank you all for sharing your ideas and input I don't know what I am going to do but I definitely don't want to do something that going to get me into more trouble.
I am truly greatful to have access to group of very smart and gifted people as yourself.
I will do the less dangerous things like check for spyware, malware.
I tried trendhouse call but kept running into problems with it for some strange reason.
Somethings I wouldn't have known where to even look without some of your guidance even googling because often I would stumple upon places that want to charge or lie to me about how easy it is update a bios.
So thank you, I truly appreciate it.
