Maybe I'm in the minority here, but when SL stops working I log into RL and start in on my list of sh*t that I neglect doing because of SL :)

Laundry
Clean the kitchen
Return emails
Pay bills
Weed the garden
See if the family is all still alive
Check in with a friend or three
Make a Target run to restock essentials
Floss
Defrag my hard drive
Backup
Ponder painting the bedroom
Clean the pond filter
Trim the cats claws
Wash the car

(This list goes on and on and on...)

IF LL is ruly salivating over the big corporate/ business money comming in, I strongly suggest they get this thing kickstarteed and working decently pronto. We unwashed minions of the customer class will tolerate it until the competition inevitably arrives, but the guys with the big bucks, WON'T. Its just that simple.

Coming in??? So IBM, L'Oreal, Nissan, Cisco, SAP, Dell etc etc... they don't count?

Yeah, and while I'm in RL doing stuff like that, I'm still paying tier in US$ for land that can't be used, and paying classified ad money in L$ even though my potential customers can't get to my store, even if they knew it existed.

I want the OPTION to choose where to spend my time.

Your attitude is condescending at best.

You get out plenty. Your tone and intention were misread.

read on the blog:
"Second Life scheduled maintenance - Complete!"

translation in plain english:

"We lindened everything one more time. We're still playing with the code to add so called improvments instead of fixing our mess"

LOL so do we have a new verb to add to the English language?

"to linden" something is to tinker with something, making it worse, while claiming to make it better...

actually, the number of developpers (and other people) around the world using "to linden" is growing and growing and growing...

At least the lindens achieve to make some people laugh ...

You perhaps miss my point. My point is that LL quite obviously wants MORE big corporations along with their money inworld, in addition to keeping the ones they have, such as the examples given by you above.

Do you, AWM Mars, truly belive that existing corporate customers will tolerate the present level of performance indefinitely? Do you, AWM Mars, truly belive that the present level of performance is sufficient to convince new corporate clients to creat a presence in world?

My experience with corporate executives is that they are generally an impatient lot of folks and they demand that things work properly most of the time. Your experiences in this regard may, of course, be far different from mine.

'Asshat' is a play on the work 'asset'. the asset server is the main database that holds a vast amount of data in SL.

It is common to call the 'Asset Server' the 'Asshat Server' since it sucks ass most of the time.

Ah, but you see, you are assuming that the corporate executives are the ones that are dealing with Linden Labs and Second Life. I have the feeling that a lot of the corporations are a case of "fix it and forget it," merely hiring someone in SL to build their 'realm' and then forgetting about it, never to darken it's door steps again. (For those with ties to these corporate execs, please, please, please drag them in world and let them see what's going on!)

The only way we're going to see a positive change is IF the corporations start making their own demands.
