I've found a couple of silver linings ...

1) choice of different fonts and the ability to underline things, use italics etc. (makes it a little easier to skim straight past the really shouty people)

2) you can embed videos

3) if somebody posts a huge image, it doesn't break the formatting - you get a scrollbar

4) Torley posts there

Has anybody else found anything to slightly ease the pain?

Lashing out doesn't help, but it does dull some pain.

Of course, had LL decided to maintain this vBulletin software instead of crippling it, all that would have been possible here (well, except for Torley).

In all truthfullness, and without sarcasm, no I don't like it. It is slow and clunky, and I find it tedious to find things.

They are going to fix that in October.

Well, we might have tempted him over here. At least under an alt.

Hmmmm.

Hmm . . .

I'm trying, I really am.

Ok.

1) I do like the options for text formatting. I hate using caps instead of italics for emphasis.

2) I like that there is at least some minimal Linden presence there.

And, as of right now, that's about it.

I truly believe that is what we wll hear on Tuesday about the "New Discussion Area". They don't have one. They'll tell us they will get one going after discussions and feedbacking and taking care of more issues or some other bs. Then they will say the unheard millions love the Blogorama, and that will be it.

That would be a pretty unforgivable betrayal, if that's the case. And it would make me into a fairly implacable foe of the blogs and thems that is running them.

I've no doubt they are trembling with fear at THAT prospect . . .

But it would be a Most Predictable Experience(tm)

I agree FULLy. My interest in SL is hanging on a thread based on LL's recent actions and direction. I am almost to the point where I don't want to be associated with their product in anyway, even for free. I do not like them as a company nor the business plan they are following. I really think another bullshit story will be the last straw.

I have not found anything I like about the SLA blogforums other than they will be here Wednesday and this place won't.

At this point I am fairly certain that the "new" forum structure will be exactly what is there now. There isn't going to be any restructuring, or adding new forums. They'll just close this one and tell people to go there instead.

Okay, this is probably me being dense, but where is this "new place"?
All I seem to find are the blogs which don't seem conducive to actually finding anything.

Blue and perhaps Lexie have said several times that once RA closes, there will be a place for "longer than allowed on the Blgorama" discussions. They have yet to say what or where it will be.

An anagram for 'Lexie Katt' is .... Alike Text ... or Text Alike

That post is in the section that was the replacement for the old Xstreet forums, some thought that with the focus being on commerce it would be more productive and work better than the old Xstreet forums.

It doesn't, not only is there less fun type and off topic posts, there's less commerce posts and far less participants. That section is a pale shadow of the old Xstreet forum.

Hmmm, an unforgiveable betrayal, eh?

What do you think about them opening these forums up to Googling then?

A terrible idea!

People that are no longer on the forums put out there posts under the understanding that the contents would only be seen by other SL peeps and not on a search engine. Even for those of us that are here, we can not see all of our posts since we first joined -- even if we could, it would mean re-reading all of them in the copious free time we have in the next few days.

I wish you'd been at the office hour with Yoz, this issue came up, the Lindens couldn't get their head around what the beef was.

Personally I do not mind my posts being searchable however I feel that its not a good move on behalf of LL for those that have posted on the assumption that it was not public outside of LL servers as that was never the case then why should it be opened up now?
