Is anyone else a big fan of Starax's sculptures? Can anyone point me towards a good in-world gallery displaying his work?

I notice that if you search for Starax now, his/her profile comes up where before it didn't so maybe we are lucky enough to have this wonderful artist among us again.

Oh, and Oyster Bay Gallery which is great often shows his work and has several..Contact Morris Vig (I think that is the spelling).

I searched last night and did not see Starax's profile in the search results. It's there now?? He's back??

His profile is and isn't there.

You won't find it in search (at least i didn't when i tried it the other day, based on rumors i've heard)...

However, if you "edit" one of his objects and go to the "general" tab, you will see his name as creator and next to it a button that accesses his profile. Click that and you will find his profile.

Anyone know his new avatar's name? Or is that all just a rumor? Is he making art under a new name?

I have a copiable version of his Pegasus sculpture. If anyone wants it, IM me.

Yumi I think with all of the interest in Starax you should maybe think about holding a show. Kind of a vaudeville/sideshow kinda thing....You could sell tickets!! Set it up on a stage. Bet you could fill the seats easily....That wand of his is the closest thing I have seen to Magic in SL.

Probably just a sly marketing move, take a year off, get some alts to 'big up' his work on the forum and he can come back and sell his stuff at 10 times the price.

No, his work is awesome...he/she needs no shills..I'm a sculptor in RL and Starax is exceptional. His Samson and his Angel/Earthman sculptures are world class.

Hopefully SL will develop to the point where it is stable enough to make sure such works are not lost to the future.

Samson was on display at Oyster Bay so I guess you already knew about the place. And yes his/her profile is accessible thru one of the works.

Dakota Island has whale 1.6...I used to think 1.4 was the last one he did.

While that scenario is just as plausible as any other, Porky, it's not as sexy.

To quote the film The Legend of Liberty Valance, "This is the west, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend."

Yeah, joking aside, there are not many builds in SL that make me go 'wow' out loud and the Starax sculptures are top of that list.

If you mean the Devil & Angel sculpture? I believe you can find one on display at the House of Nyla, flagship store.

The huge, crouching red devil in the video linked above... I swear that one of its molars has a filling. That's detail.

OMG! That was an incredible experience to watch. What an incredibly talented artist. I can only imagine what it would be like to actually fly around them and see them for real (as real as in-world gets, that is!). Has anyone put together a map of locations of existing sculptures? It would make a great tour.

And Rockwell, I would love to have a copy of the Pegasus, but only if it isn't contributing to the permissions leak problem.

Actually, as far as I understand, when the wand first came out Kyau Brodie tried to do exactly that (although I'm not sure it went ahead)

Late nites when Im bored I sometimes invite some friends over for a wand demo. I also have a giant copy of 'Drowned' in my pocket and a 'Satans room' door. So if your a night owl whos up late and you want to see the infamous wand in action, say hello. If any other owners of Starax art want to get together and host a Starax festival with me, Id be happy to open my island up for a week or so and we could invite the public to see some of this stuff in person. Send me an IM in game and lets see what we can do. As for a second coming of the great Starax, l was chatting with him several months ago and he stated that he wasnt in any big hurry to jump back into the game, a take it or leave it situation. But I know he enjoys creating his craft as much as we appreciate experiencing it. So I wouldnt be surprised to see some more stuff in the future. Stoking his ego in these boards may give him some incentive since he doesnt seem to grasp the concept that he truly is a great artistan of primcraft. The guy is way too humble for his own good. ( YOU HEAR THAT BRO??) As for sharing the name of his alts, that just wouldnt be polite. The artist formerly known as Starax appreciates his quiet time and does not accept IMs.
