Don't use so much bling that you look like an airport runway at midnight. Nothng quite so much announces "newbie" except maybe for some AO where you strike a lame pose every 2 seconds.

Nothing wrong with Bling :)

- New resident rule: If you see a bunch of ads floating or clubs/casinos with camping chairs, find another region to call home.

Another thing is to never buy a shape. The LL tools are all you need to create any shape you want if you have the patience. There is no reason to buy a shape.

I agree there is nothing wrong with bling especially if one wants to look like a circus clown.

One I would add... Don't use so called banks for Lindens. If you really want to earn on your money in here, cash it out and put it in a real bank. Any real bank is going to beat any rate that could be offered in here anyway unless of course they are running a scam and alot of them are starting to do just that.

Don't buy Lindens from someone you don't know and trust. If LL determines that you bought Lindens that were obtained through fraud (even if you didn't know it), they can take triple the amount from your inventory.

100. Check out the freebies before spending a lot of money on things. It's amazing what is available for free and you'll know if someone is trying to sell you something that is given out free.

Do not buy anything in a sandbox.

Use the mute feature instead of sending an abuse report. (unless it's more serious)

Do not get naked anywhere you feel like it. (especially PG sims)

Do not shoot people outside of a combat zone. (unless you have their permission, and no one else around you will be affected)

456) If you are still sporting the hair you came into SL with, check with another resident to make sure you don't have a bald spot on the side of your head.

3.14159265...) Don't expect everything you want to happen right away. Just like anything, sometimes you have to work to get what you want.

14) If you're going to release a Bot into SL that can most readily be used to rip other people off, and has little other redeeming value, prepare to be burned at the stake.

14) If you're going to release a Bot into SL that can most readily be used to rip other people off, and has little other redeeming value, prepare to be very rich.

InSL u find every kind of no-life retard you could possibly imagine as well as a few even Tim Burton couldnt imagine u find 12yr-olds claiming to be 40 men claiming 2 be women, women claiming 2 make sense and every1 claiming 2 have ideas that are actually worth a damn if only someone would just listen to their unique innovative and exceptionally important idea

36) Don't hold private conversations in public. That's what IM is for.

37) Once you figure "life" out, don't be impatient with newbies. We were all there once.

38) Don't forget to attend the building/texturing/whatevering classes! You'll learn some amazing tricks!

39) Don't think that you HAVE to have money for the first few weeks in SL. It's OKAY to learn without it!

39a) Don't go around asking everyone how to get money in SL.

40) Don't forget to have FUN! :)

My tip is to take avatars at face value - if they are a gangster they're a gangster - if they are a businessman in a suit, that's what they are - or if they are a pretty female - same again - treat them as such. I do, however, have a suspicion that many furries are humans in fancy dress because that's what they look like, but apart from that I do take avatars at face value! Live 'in world' and treat SL as real while you are in it.

If you want land that is not an entire sim

either:
1. buy on the mainland
or
2. rent on a private island/estate

Only buy on private islands/estates from very well known, respected long term people. as the private island owner actually owns the entire private island including your land as far as linden labs is concerned and can take it back.
Respected land owners won't do this of course but you are still relying on them staying in SL which is why you should only pick long term respected people.

I look like a cross between Golum and Yoda on steroids, so not sure you should take my Av at face value.

Don't Panic!! Know where your towel is and the answer is 42;)

Note: Set your home to a place you feel safe and don't be afraid to TP there at anytime. Also if you are really freaked/caged/upset ...shut the game down, do something else and return to the game when you feel better:)

Edit: Woops, that's not a "don't."

OK, don't not follow your dreams!

42 watch out for little blue windows asking you for debit permissions

never click yes to a dialog box asking you for debit permissions without first knowing about the object

its ok when you know the object it legit, like getting it from a trusted source, or being able to read the scripting, it allows your avatar to pay othe ppl when your not around, such as giving change, refunds, paying employees ect

for a few asshats banking on the fact your not paying attention its a way to clean out your L$ FAST

I have never seen a circus clown blinging... sounds like someone's RL gold jewelry turned green on them :)

16) Be aware that there is no privacy in Second Life, however much you might wish it to be so. You cannot stop camera tricks, you cannot stop scans, you cannot stop an army of determined alts, and if you listen to streaming music or watch videos in-world your IP address can be trivially obtained.

.

Bah, this is a game, who cares about privacy... just can't believe there that many pervs out there to spy to watch images have sex :) Sad world.

That is true, but only problem with most of that stuff is prim count. I noticed a lot of that stuff looks basic with high prims.

think top on list should be...

...to visit and read sl forums and blog often :)

since most in SL already do not even know it exists

if it's just a game, who cares about privacy. SL is a new worlds, we can do what we imagined, like as creating, trainning, collaboration, app development, etc. I do believe there will have many new things in the near future.
