...Recently (like in the last 2 weeks) I found a RP sim based on the Bonds of Beauty books and the original Brother's Grimm fairytales. A friend took me there, and we got a tour from a lovely young slave named zoe...

I've only been in SL for about a month so I really haven't tried much. I've taken the hot air balloon up for a spin. Gone to plenty of events with live music. I skydived from my skybox a few times. Most of the time I find myself loggin on, getting dressed and going to my job in SL. It's funny. I got on SL to get away from RL troubles. I find myself worring about the same things such as if I'm going to make enough in tips this week to pay rent on my skybox.

Most of my fun is from chatting with friends or exploring. Scripting can be fun, but it has to be market adapted and thus can't be depended on for that, but that's OK.

I've been interested in RP, but I've never had much luck with RP areas: but that's partly because I avoid a lot of them, specifically those where the land owner and their friends have set themselves up in advance as the "main players" in the RP. Of course they have every right to do that if they want to, but my experience has been that usually it means that they're started from their own private RP group and are trying to scale it up to include the public. This never works, because once the public are involved it's a completely different dynamic. Usually, it seems they're thinking that having the public around will keep the sim busy and thus mean they can log in any time they like and there will be people around with whom they can interact with the social "upper hand" because of their IC status. What it actually results in, in most cases, is the public getting bored or frustrated, thus leaving, and then the landowners sending out an exasperated group notice and/or notecard and closing down the area.

With the events these past few months, I haven't pulled out my fake id in some time. I think it would be bloody hilarious for a bunch of kids with fake id cards to mob a strip club, but I'm sure it wouldn't end well (immediately, or down the road for the kid community).

In short, I have not tried to sell fake id cards to any kids recently. If I have in the past, it was months ago before the fiasco got serious. I honestly don't remember if I ever have tried to sell one to a kid, but I may have back in the day.

You're essentially right, but perhaps missing the correct way to deal with this sort of roleplay. I would never suggest doing this in a way that would annoy strangers, let alone break serious Linden rules.

But RP takes advantage of some imagination, and sometimes planning. You could just have kids dealing in fake ID cards at any of the existing high school RP sims, where they don't actually have to be used for anything, just sold until the teachers find out. Or you could have things like alcohol and cigarettes, which wouldn't violate any Linden rules, as far as I know. The latter requires having some more people who are in on the concept, in order to play it out. I realize that with both of these, they're not really things you could do just by yourself, but that doesn't mean that people couldn't have fun with it.

Well that's teh joy of a group IM and a community - anyone gets a zany idea, and they can usually pull in more people than a mainland sim can handle. :)..snip..

sounds great fun Desmond! =) i must join one of these groups and let my hair down from time to time. =D

It seems I spend most of my time in SL playing DarkLife. It's currently closed to new players due to past exploiters and hackers, but the upgrade to DarkLife 2 is promised to be coming soon. And with DarkLife 2, it should be once again opened to all.

When I'm not involved in DarkLife, I tend to enjoy Primtionary, as well as building and scripting for fun.
