Pretty straight forward idea... add names of people that have helped you here, made you laugh, got you thinking... anyone from here that contributed to the improvement of your Life, Second or First.
(as a group) every single person that got something useful out of these forums, whether you posted or not. your needs filled this community with a purpose, direction, and drive.
(Individually) Ridiculously too many to note, but one person easily tops my list: Strife Onizuka (in this and other venues)
so how about it folks? credit where credit is due? list away and try to stick to the positive side of things... we can have another thread for the people we AREN'T going to miss =P

There are many, but Desmond Shang stands out. Made me think, made me laugh and inspired me as a business owner.

Soooo many people, whether they made me laugh, think, or helped me in someway.
I think basically take the old regulars, plus some more recent ones and list their names here...
Even Jumpy because he is just soo amusing...

Too, too many to name. But, between you, you yourself, Void, Argent, Dora Gustafson, Hewee Zetkin and Jesse Barnett all somehow managed to remain patient while helping me in my uphill struggle with quaternions and other things that go bump in the night.
And, while he was before my time, I think, I've learned a great deal from Newgate Ludd's posts. He comes over as being a really good guy, too.

From: Brenda Connolly Too many to name. Ditto but I'll give it a go all the same. I thought I might do a one-off post on these lines anyway. So, in half-arsed alphabetical order: 3Ring Binder - how the Hell could any regular forum reader forget her!? Amaranthim Talon who likes a laugh. Argent Stonecutter for his playful intelligence and all them ferrets. Chosen Few for the encyclopaedic contribution of knowledge and advice. Bradley Bracken for being a perfectly proportioned one-man riot. Brenda Connolly for so many perceptive comments and sharp one-liners. Brianna Dawson whose grumpiest comments never quite cover the big heart. Craig Altman for being generous with his ideas. Dana Hickman who always has something interesting to say. Deira Llanfair for animation tips and being an all round good 'un. Desmond Shang for the words of wisdom and (generally) good humour. DoteDote Edison for occasional but very much appreciated solutions Gabrielle Graves for being an impossibly warm-blooded vampire. Indeterminate Schism also for one or two very timely solutions. Jesse Barnett for relentless advice and support to scripting wannabees. Jig Chippewa for being Jig. Jumpman Lane for being Jumpy. Lindal Kidd for always being a good read. Lear Cale for being very cool with every post he made. Mickey Vandeverre for all sorts of stuff. Phil Deakins for his sense of humour. Pserendipity Daniels for occasionally not being an utter pain in the butt. Qie Niangao also for being a consistently good read. Rhaorth Antonelli in spite of the undying thread (I know it wasn't her fault). Rolig Loon for help and advice. Scylla Rhiadra for the sheer enjoyment she projected into the forums. Seagel Neville for the Hibari Misora titles and a script that got me interested. SuezanneC Baskerville for sticking to the point. Viktoria Dovgal for help and advice. Void Singer for a cool head, warm heart and all the help (kind of a Chosen Few of 'Scripting Tips'). Yumi Murakami for sticking to the point - or finding another one if it didn't work. Also, some people I have neither met nor communicated with who nevertheless contributed to my enjoyment of SL: Francis Chung, Ziggy Puff and all the folk who tinkered with AO scripts. Strife Onizuka whose hard work is way over and above my head. Miffy Fluffy for the MLP thing and the animation revolution that followed. Vince Invincible for Avimator. Note: There are plenty more so I guess I will be editing this over the coming week.

Spilling my guts here..
02-03-2010 17:48
I am dumbfounded... and hurt... and angry... and everything else in between. But nothing I (or anyone else it seems) can say will change anything. So it goes.
I haven't posted much in my time as a SL resident... (wow, I haven't even broke 200 posts) But even so, I've lurked quite a bit, and had a blast reading everyone's conversations over the years. From the wealth of knowledge and wonderful brainstorming on the Content Creation forums, to the helpful/zany posts/hi-jinks of Resident Answers, I have marveled at such a vast and amazing community that existed here on the forums...
In no particular order, I tip my hat to
Chosen Few for his limitless wealth of knowledge in content creation and his dedication to share such wealth. Salazar Jack for his amazing world building and story telling Ghostly Kips for helping rally everyone to save the hippos (we're still waiting for them to integrate the fix, aren't we?) Argent Stonecutter for those adorable ferret pictures Imnotgoing Sideways for being so damn bubbly Void Singer Desmond Shang Osprey Therian Marianne McCann Meade Paravane
Oh man...This list goes on, and on, and I feel awful for not being able to individually thank each and every one of you.
I don't know how things will play out with the new forum "replacement." Maybe it won't suck completely (given time), maybe it will be temporary, I just don't know; and I'm certainly not going to leave SL over it - as saddening as this latest situation feels.
I must confess something. I always had an apprehension for posting on the forums, for fear of putting my foot in my mouth - which I did anyway on many occasions. But also because I seemed to have a nack for being one of the last ones to post in a topic... I never did seem to have much luck in ongoing discussions, always agonizing over each post I did submit.... Still, I wish I had spent more time on the forums, getting to know so many of you better - though I suppose that would have made this all the more heart-wrenching than it already is...
Whatever does happen, I do hope that I will continue to hear from all of you, in some form, be it the questionable blogs, other forums or even in-world! If nothing else, at lease we're still a PM or notecard away...
God speed everyone.

Noes I hates popularity threads! Unless someone names me. Thanks to everyone, especially anyone who has helped me in SL to get projects off the ground. Special thanks to scripters since I am hopeless there, especially. Qie Niangao...you're golden, I'd have keeled over from stress by now without your help. THANK YOU. Thanks to my staff at the CR too, Maelys & Vante...they haven't posted here but they are great too. It's so uplifting if others help with a project that wasn't even their 'baby' but care deeply about it all the same. Really nifty.

I thank everyone who as posted. No matter what the topic was, or how it was handled, they help build the community here. No matter how good, bad or indifferent, all the views and perceptions are what made this place come alive, and in doing so, help SL be even more alive.

Everyone. Every single noob who posted once, got an answer, said thanks! and disappeared. And all the noobs that stayed until they become grizzled spouts of knowledge. For entertainment, everyone from Prok to Strife to Lil to Jig and everyone in between. Because for me it was always about the flow, the ripple of conversation and thought, the warm embrace of freely sprinkled lolanimals, breakfasts, and hugs. All of us brought together by our love for the world we walk, SL. God grant LL doesn't kill that as well.

I'm going to give Qie and Nika special kudos. They were the first to champion thos forum and take it to the Lindens, a long time ago. They are th evidence that LL is full of it when they say they want our feedback and are listening. They've been getting it, and giving it to us for a long time.

After almost 4 years it is absolutely impossible to name any one specific person who stands out in my mind as someone to point to and salute. Not only can I not remember exactly their names but even if I could I don't have unlimited time to start my list. Of the three main sub forums I can name a couple or a few in each that stand out in my mind at this moment.......two months ago those names might totally different and two months from now they would be another, different set of names. It's fluid........changes according to issues, questions, topics. The three forums I mostly read daily are Resident Answers, Texturing Tips, and Technical Issues. Resident Answers. SuezanneC Baskerville.......Patient and always on topic. Brenda Connelly........Impatient. But with a quick and dry sense of humor. Jig Chipawa......The willing butt of many jokes and seldom serious. How could you not love her? And Pep.........he hates everyone equally. Texturing Tips. Chosen Few......The, often to me irritating, scholar of all things graphics.......but I cannot argue with his knowledge. Just wish I could win an argument once in while. I love him. Chip Midnight.......Without his clothing templates we all would be lost for creating clothing. Robin Sojourner......A person of few words..........but when those words are spoken they are a wealth of information. Technical Issues. Chosen Few.....Again. Argent Stonecutter.......Networks to security always has a ton of good easy to understand information. Milla Januck.............The graphics card guru. And everyone else for helping me, entertaining me and fighting with me while not getting too pissed at me in the process.

I'll take that as a compliment............but if you wanna fight about it, I'm game. I think most here know I don't take too much seriously here..........though there a few (less than 10, I'm sure) who I just don't like. You won't get me to name them even if you waterboard me.

I think Suezanne deserves a bow as well. She is one of the few Ancient Ones to stick around. She always is on topic, even if I have no idea what she is talking about most of the time. She also took us lunatics running through the rooms and jumping o the mattresses with a lot of grace and restraint as well as some well placed humor.
*whips off her pants and waves them in salute.

All the scripters who showed me that LSL is not a toy language. All the builders who showed me that I had not even begun to plunge the depths of envy Rhaorth Antonelli and Rhianna Larkham, for being.
