Your most embarrassing SL moment to date?

This is mine. Last week i was at one of my groups and we were debating a certain subject. As usual it became a bit heated with people having intellectual orgasms all over the place. So i, too, stood up and had one which i thought was quite effective at the time. Then i hit the wrong key in my enthusiasm to get over my point, and travelled backwards at the rate of knots into a patch of quicksand (this was a beach Sim) and disappeared underground. I could still hear people laughing on the voicechat as i merged helplessly into the sand dune and had to tp back home. Dammit! Will i be able to show my face there again?!?!?! lmao

I got a cute new animated gadget...a lipstick and compact. You wear the two items, and they animate your avatar.

To save time, I put the two items into their own little folder.

So...I was in a crowded club/mall, and decided to show off my new animation. I dragged the folder containing the lipstick and compact onto myself. Poof, I'm bald and naked in the mall and checking my makeup.

Ooops.

Well, I think I can answer for Morgaine, my RL/SL fiancee. We were at a skating rink sim last night struggling to rezz and wear the freebie iceskate boots. The black ones I took came as an unpacked folder so could put on the two prims and the shoe shape.
Morgaine however, selected the white set which I gather was packed as an object. Anyway, the inevitable happened and her right arm disappeared inside this box momentarily. That wasn't it ...

... I gather the object finally appeared in her inventory as a folder cos the next thing I saw was her hair disappear .. along with I think all her clothes. Poof she went ... home I shan't copy and paste the IM dialogue which was amusing in its own right. She was most upset poor thing and asked me if anyone else there had noticed. There had only been two other avatars there a guy and girl in father xmas costumes skating and knocking each other over to the sound of giggling and snorting .. very funny too really. I don't think they noticed a thing but I think fiancee's temperature rose a little there

I honestly don't think it would be appropriate to post it here. LOL.

I feel so much better now about not realising I had the mic live at Bound and Determined last night when I started sneezing ... well more accurately the voice was lagged and I didn't know. It made me so paranoid that then I was having a conversation that would have made me DIE if anyone had heard it ... and go ARGH! and turn off the mic ... and then get laughed at for being a paranoid nutter At least it was with someone I don't care what sort of a fool I make of myself with, lol.

I had a bit of an embarrassing moment last night actually.
I went to a sandbox, flew up to about 300, used my mystitool to rez a platform.
The platform got returned for some reason, i think the owner had left auto return on from the last clearance or something, anyway, i chose to 'replace outfit' which is fine, my hair and most of my clothes are copyable so I can make an outfit without worrying about going bald etc.
Except the top in this folder wasn't copyable.
And I had put it in another folder earlier.
I didn't realise, thought it was taking a while to rez. so I went and got a glass of water.

When I came back, I was in the middle of a sandbox, wearing half an outfit. I had forgotten that it takes the mystitool off so I had been sinking slowly while I got my drink all the while with no top on oops.

Thats not the most embarrassing, but still pretty bad.

I don't get embarrassed easily in SL. I'm used to going about in my birthday suit so nakedness doesn't embarass me as much as missing textures, 'ruthness', misplaced ponytail or default grey.

My most embarassing moment was actually on these boards quite recently, when I totally misunderstood the subject of a thread and mistook discussion of a real-life tragedy for one about the loss of a business in SL. I still feel sorry about that but it was a genuine mistake on my part.

Isn't it strange how many of these 'moments' involve pixel nudity?

Ah, my most embarassing forum moment was starting a thread with one of those cyclic topics. You know, where they pop up every few months? And the longer you've been here, the more annoyed you are to see them repeat?

Being called out on it right away, and then admitting that I should have used the search tool first. And then someone (hehe) posted about 12 search results for similar topics right after, rubbing salt into my stupidity wound.

Nothing for me. But I have heard stories of people logging out nekkid, and then the sim they were in being down when they logged back in so SL sends them in the buff to the nearest info hub.

Um... yeah, that would be my embarrassing moment. Being sent, involuntarily, to a welcome center in a PG sim while totally naked.

I never found that embarassing, personally. Being nekkid ... well ... what can I say?

Now, nekkid, bald and with shoes and hair up my derriere ...

LOL...Precisely why I head for home and make sure I'm fully dressed before I log off

And I've had more than one instance of adding something to my outfit and ending up topless before everything rezzed properly :/

1.) Standing in a busy shopping area, and decided to try on a pair of demo boots. Hit the wrong button (do wish they'd move "replace outfit" a bit further down the list) and yes... instantly naked except for the demo footwear. That was -before- I learned to carry an emergency "replace everything" folder in the top level of my inv, so fixing it took some doing.

2.) Got all dolled in a nice, slightly formal little outfit I'd put together, went out to window-shop and was feeling quite pleased with my new "look" ...then I panned the camera around to compare the color of a dress on display to my av's skin tone, and discovered she was still wearing her nipples and rings... as she had been since the previous night. I died a little, inside. ^^;;

It wasn't being naked that was embarrassing...it's only pixels, after all. It was being Stupid In Public that was the embarrassing part. I've done the same sort of thing in print, and the embarrassment is just as acute.

Sorry, didn't mean that, really The salt thing. Really!

Buying clothing for female friends back in the day when the purchase automatically defaulted to "wear."

I didn't know about non transfer then either--and kept forgetting to check. I've got quite a collection of lingerie for that reason.

Sometimes we *all* have to learn things the hard way.

I took my NOW girlfriend on a date skiing, and some freaking jack off cage and orbited her. I spend the next 30 minutes making his life a living hell.

They seriously need to move that option further down the list... and/or make it bright red... ^^;;

even better would be for it to only replace the objects in those attachment points, instead of taking everything off

For those of us with collars, that option, along with the "Release Keys" button, are complete evil.
