Problem Two: _every_ casino in SL is completely opaque and have games that cheat (and by cheating, I mean purposefully not functioning like their RL equivalents in terms of randomness and gameplay).

In RL, there is no 'randomness' with slots/one armed bandits, they are designed to meet the regulations (in the UK) of a minimum payout of 72% (haven't found a generous one that would pay more). However I do agree, that without any regulations, slots/one armed bandits in SL depend on finding more than 72% suckers.

Here in the US, in Las Vegas for example many slots are programmed for payouts as high as 95-98%. But they are still governed by Random Number Generators, so the winning is still a random event. A machine can pay a jackpot and then pay one again in a half hour or not again for months. Just like in Craps or Roulette, the numbers have no memory.

Brenda, to use the 2 terms 'random' and 'programmed' doesn't lay well in the same context, unless you use a random number generator within a programme, but this would be fixed within parameters of an array, which in itself suggests some 'fixing' of the outcome. Anyone ever 'won' and the machine didn't have sufficient money inside to pay the full prize? I have. The only 'random' event, is the programmers 'appearence' of creating an random event to prevent anyone seeing a pattern, either way, its not about skill or luck.

In real life in the US the random number generator is required to meet certain specifications.

There was a special on the History Channel the Random Number Generator's creator who put a sequence in secretly so he could cheat the machines.

Since he designed the electronic part that did the Random number generating .. he was able to cover it up and avoided detection for quite some time.

I do see the irony of that statement.

Just to Chirp in , my Lucky orbs have been tested with 100,000 bets with a average payout of 89.7%. this is based off of a 11:1 odds setting. Really cant get more fair than that. I would release the soucre code to it, but that would make it worthless, as everyone else would call it thiers

Also wanted to add that casinos don't have to necessarily contain slots and slingo machines. I have been to a couple of poker houses that have just poker tables and the lag in these types of casinos is very little.

Seems like the majority of respondents prefer clubs to casinos and there's quite a few innovative ideas. Thanks everyone!

Dance clubs are OK by me but good themes for casinos seem to be ugliness, emptiness and hopefully, eventually, bankruptcy!
