Hey All,

We are conducting a survey for a prospective client. I know some people hate taking surveys so let me give you a quick synopsis of what it is before you decide to take or not take it.

The survey is only 10 questions. It's purpose is to determine the use of clubs and casinos and what people like most about them. It also asks for favorite themes people have experienced and what they would like to see in any future club or casino. It should only take about 2 - 5 minutes to complete, depending on how long of a comment you leave at the end.

If you have decided that you would like to move forward, please click here to take the survey:

The survey will close on 6/15/2007 at 12:00 pm EST.

Thank you all for your time and consideration.

Regards,

Your URL takes one to the main page of Survey Monkey, not to your survey.

Kacino

There are no casinos so I dont know what the OP is talking about.

If he wants to know a theme - how about something well built that looks realsitic.

Since nearly every venue out there doesnt.

I appreciate the replies so far.

Did I say Casino??? I meant Kacino....it's a new game :)

I understand some peoples disapproval of casinos and I would be the first one to agree with most of the complaints which is why we are looking for something new that can keep the Kacino element yet make it more enjoyable for everyone there and those around it.

Thank you all for your responses thus far.

All legalities aside, I have no issue with Gambling Establishments in SL. They can have a place just like anything else. I personally have no interest in visiting them, preferring the real life article, just as many profess about SL sex.

If SL Casinos become legal and regulated under a U.S. gaming commission I might consider going to one. Otherwise, why visit an unregulated establishment where the "games" are programmed to cheat?

Well, it seems as if more people like clubs than casinos which is fine. The survey has club questions on there too so if you can, please just take the survey for the club portion of it. By doing this, my client could bring something beneficial to SL, something that a good portion of people want in a club.

It'd be nice if the Casino part was optional.

I like casinos....

... on islands, where they don't lag mainland sims.

Problem One: you only have 11 posts and haven't even attempted to make yourself a part of the forum community, yet magically spam survey requests. Why not get involved with the people you wish wish to survey before asking them to do stuff so you can profit?

Problem Two: _every_ casino in SL is completely opaque and have games that cheat (and by cheating, I mean purposefully not functioning like their RL equivalents in terms of randomness and gameplay). Want to differentiate yourself? Hire someone to script FAIR games, guarantee their fairness, and make open source the parts of the scripts that deal with outcome selection so that people can review the odds for themselves.

Problem Three: your theme selections are generic and uninteresting. Why not do something completely different?

if i were going to build a casino i think id keep it small. not some cavernous 4000m2 empty void. small and out of the way, kinda like a speakeasy (which anymore is how they are percieved)

looking at the survey and seeing the choices of Club/Casin/Both slants the results because it wont take into consideration of those who go to neither

Thank you all for the constructive criticism.

In response to some of the posts, I have added a place on question #2 for not applicable.

Also, please note that this is for a client. I am not making a casino or club for myself and this survey is being done for nothing. I am merely helping out someone.

Thank you all again for your time.

I am calling you on this one. Not every casino is game in SL is rigged. I know of quite a few people that have fair games. I have helped code some of those games and I would never rig a game to make more money. It is really not that hard to open source the odds part. They will all use some variation of llFrand(x).

Even if someone open sourced the code, there is no way to guarantee that the code used in the game is the same as what was released.

Casinos are trash. They take property value down, they are usually ugly, and at least one I know of is spreading like a cancer through Spinach, Highflyer, and Sprawler. I wish they'd just get rid of them already.

Got to agree. Clubs and casinos are major lag monsters that cause big problems for other landowners on mainland sims.

Keep them on private sims.

And for the love of all that's good and holy...no camping.

There may well be "fair" casinos in SL. But without any recognised regulatory authority, there is no way to tell them from the scammers, and so the only sensible approach is to avoid them all.

Actually, if coded correctly and if on a private sim as most people have mentioned, casinos aren't half bad on lag. If you leave out the slots and slingo they're pretty good. I've been to a couple of strictly poker houses and I never have lag issues.

But I agree with the majority here that casinos and clubs are usually lag monsters and shouldn't be on the mainland.
