I'd prefer if the money went to new staff who was able to handle concierge support tickets so they didn't take weeks to get to. Seems more important to me than hiring forum police to monitor adult conversation.

surely i cannot be the only person that doesnt like the idea of disconnected, noob moderators being contracted to enforce whatever moderation policy katt and ll direct them to undertake.

Seriously though, as much as I admire Jesse's attempt (and I do!) to reach Philip...

1. Philip is no longer the Head Honcho. He just hangs out and designs stuff. More power to him, you know, but I wonder how much Power he actually has.

2. Protesting over-moderation in the Forum that is being over-(or strangely) moderated will be only seen by those doing the actual moderation. With all respect to Millie and Katt, I don't think that an open letter HERE will do much good. I don't think it will be seen by Those In Charge.

3. WE all love the SL Forums, but we are a super ultra minority. There are other forums out there, there are millions of other users out there, and LL has its hands full with a gajillion other things. I know, I know, I know, that the SLF here is a vital and extremely useful place for all to go for answers to all regarding SL. That's why we're here! I still can't shake the feeling that we're a redheaded stepchild to LL, and therefore negligible. We're a PITA. We scream and shout and holler, and LL is trying to just keep the dern grid alive. I'm not surprised that we're shunted to the back burner.

More power to you, Jesse. I just don't know how far it'll get. :(

Personally, I think that "disconnected" moderators is a good thing - no personal axes to grind. According to the blog, they will not be "noob"s - not at moderating, anyway, and this place needs some proper moderation. What it doesn't need is resident moderators who can't help but allow their personal ideas, etc. to influence their moderating.

i dont see any good coming of this new forum they are moving to either. $10 says they wont have the will to migrate the data and they will delete years of history, code snippets and tutorials in the process.
