Actually LL could reincorporate as a non-American company , move all servers, etc.

And they would still face the dilema of whether or not to allow gambling.

Sinply becuase American Credit Card companies are not allowed to make payments to Internet gambling sites.

I agreed with much of what you said, Zaphod. This line I had to give a standing ovation. One of the biggest complaints was there was no advance warning. NO ADVANCE WARNING? If you own a casino and this caught you off guard then you have only yourself to blame for running a business while keeping your head in the ground.

No Bradly, i'm afraid i Cannot agree with you there. Even if LL didn't Announce that they were doing so, Any Reasonable person, who Knows Anything about Law, and business would Know that LL would be Putting their legal people on to Investigating their position after Passage of the Internet gambling Bill, and the Lawyers MOST likely response would be to side with caution, and Ban Gambling. ALL of that was discussed in these forums Months ago. Any prudent business man would have seen the Possibility if not the certainty of Changes coming down the Pipe, and prepared himself accordingly.
Many didn't, But hey, they are Gamblers, and in this case, they gambled, and lost.
They forgot the First Rule of gambling, "Never bet More than you can afford to Lose".

Angel.

So don't come moaning when it effects your business. The writing is on the wall for sex and violence too. Whatever knock on effect that has, don't come moaning.

I dont see the writing on the wall for Violence.

Sex, the writing isnt on the wall yet, but theres hints that they might be getting their spray paint cans ready.

Gambling isn't banned in the US at all... I live in the US and there is a full blown casino just down the street. It isn't owned by a native american, and it isn't on water.... but there it is.

Hi Angel,

I think you misread what I had written. Take a look at it again. There's nothing you said that disagrees with what I said.

I don't know about the violence but I do agree that the days of escorts and sex clubs will eventually come to a close, but not for the same reason as gambling. Eliminating gambling was a sound business decision no matter how you want to look at it. No employer should place their employees in a position to be breaking the law and putting themselves in jeopardy. It's not a matter of moral judgment.

As LL continues to cater to major corporations I am sure they will eventually put a stop to all the sex clubs. Again, not a judgment, just the way I see them heading.

I never gambled in SL apart from a sploder that used to be at a dance club I go to.
But I discovered that one large gambling place appears to be functioning as normal.

I am not against gambling in SL on a small scale - what got me bothered was that the world was getting overcrowded with casinos, which were often very ugly buildings and caused major lag.

Aside from any moral or legal issues over gambling, casinos were becoming an 'environmental' problem within SL!
