Hiya there, Spinmeister Without Shame. Read it again (no, don't bother, I'm telling everybody else to read it so they can see what you are ignoring - and grossly, GROTESQUELY, misreporting.)

Strife specifically invited people to continue these discussions on other threads, with references as appropriate to the one he closed.

You really have no integrity at all, do you, Rusty Satyr? You have had your nose rubbed in your intellectual dishonesty more than once, and here you are again, back at the same old stand, with the same old contemptible, dishonest tricks. You really do think other people are stupid, don't you? Well, here,on these forums, they are not.

Perhaps you are a masochist, and LIKE having your nose rubbed in it? If so, congratulations. You have come to the right place.

Interested parties, please see Stirfe's locking post on Automated Burglary, and decide for yourself. If you think Rusty is indeed insulting your intelligence, well, what did I tell you?

Be aware, questioning Strife may get you banned for a period of two weeks.

Yeah... I think LL just lost one of their major contributors to the Scripting Tips forum. At least for a while. I certainly am not risking my RL income over a forum.

If ya wanna chat, I'll be at .
Skull 2, out.

 that's outrageous. it erodes the little confidence I had remaining for the Linden's abuse management measures in-world. is it similarly over-the-top and unreasonable there too or did i just observe an isolated incident? an in-world ban for activity in a forum just stinks. and that thread was tame compared to some here.

i'm bowing out for a bit. i don't want to go getting an in-world ban for pissing off the wrong person here.
take care all. :(

It has been the rule for some time.

I've been against the rule the whole time.

I really don't think what a person says on a forums has a THING to do with how they behave in world.

I have always thought this connection - being punished by not being able to get into the game for what you said on the forums - was awful. Even if it was a TERRIBLE thing you said on the forums, then surely a forum ban would be sufficient.

THEN, if you do horrible things in world, you can be banned from there.

But not - be invited into a discussion on forums (and a forum is an invitation by its very existance), on pain of losing your ability to play the game you have paid for because of something you said on the forums.

Yeah, it's bizzarre that a thread about the impact of v-chat on SL gets closed but the "are you OK with Age Verification?" and "What is Ageplay?" threads right next to it keep going strong for a couple days afterwards.

I understand the need for rules, but the powers that be should understand the need for consistency.

I just realized I posted that last sentence on the SL forum. haha!

So Strife, tell us, how do YOU like being so egregiously misconstrued? This guy has done it to me more than once, and I don't care for it at all. I do not hesitate to call him on it. Now he has the chutzpah to do it to you. I am not asking you to go beyond the LL rules you operate under. but I can't help asking.

I think we'd have a lot fewer problems with all this if there were more than just one active resmod. It's just too big a job.

No, FLAMING Strife will get you banned. Especially after already being banned from one forum, as it were, for pretty much the same thing.

Makes perfect sense to me. :)

Me, too.

But seriously, more than one active moderator would make it easier on the poor guy!

Or more fair to the guy, how many complaints must LL recieve about having one moderator on a busy forum before they give him some help?

It still violates both the spirit and the letter of the rules *here*, and deserved to be locked, and the offender dealt with.

coco

I dunno Coco.

Why should they be disconnected? They are both part of SL. In fact, I can imagine that people would become more Jeckyll and Hyde-ish if they totally separated the two. I think separation of the two would simply encourage people to be nastier than they already are, which is bad enough, what with the regular handful of idiots on here who you see jumping on every single thread in which someone voices displeasure about anything at all.

This is how life works. You get sanctioned from being able to participate in things because of poor behaviour. Like when your parents took away privileges for totally unrelated things you did wrong, like saying you can't go to the dance Friday because you teased your little brother until he cried or whatever. Kids get suspended and expelled from school for posting inappropriate stuff on the web, same goes for adults with non-payment of child support (lose your driver's license in many places), probation, parole and so forth, and I do not see why SL should be any different.

The poor guy... Is somebody holding a gun to his head and forcing him too moderate these forums?

No.

So if he quit, then who would moderate?

He's taking on a task that isn't meant for just one person and gets a lot of guff from people like you. THAT'S what I'm referring to when I say "poor guy".

It's easier to be a critic than actually doing something.

You seem to have skipped the first line of the post you're complaining about:
"While Strife didn't say it this way, this is what I read into his comment on "automated burglary""

I stated clearly that it was MY interpretation of Strife's comments. "Too Long" is obviously not a published reason for thread closure, I was, if anything, giving him the benefit of the doubt... more than you seem to be at least.

If Strife has a problem with my posted opinion I will very happily retract it at his request.

See, this is what I'm talking about. Instead of thinking that it's possible that he's doing what he can to go through ALL the posts and find EVERYTHING breaking the rules everyone assumes he's an inept jerk that just locks what he wants.

If you have a problem with how it's being done, why don't YOU volunteer and chip in instead of sitting on your ass criticizing people who actually try to make a difference (no matter how small it is)?

I don't think he's a very good moderator, as mods go.

You don't like my opinion (big shock). Tough bounce.

I don't have to be president to legitimately criticise Geo. Bush. In fact, if we always had to be what we were criticising to offer up criticism, that would eliminate about 99% of your posts..

And kindly stop putting words in my mouth, I didn't call him ANYTHING. That's YOUR forte', taking everything to a personal level, so I suppose it's not surprising that you would frame it that way...
