Why is it acceptable for ResMods to be sarcastic and rude? |

I find this witch hunt more distasteful than Strife's lack of tact.

I find this witch hunt more distasteful than Strife's lack of tact. I must've been in an alternative reality for the last four months then when the Strife in my world was threatening, bullying, attacking, and strong-arming anyone who dared to post. I apologize for the confusion then. Do you mind if I hang out here? Apparently the Strife in this world isn't the one who threatened to sue a third-party website because I had the audacity to post the harassing PMs he was sending me here. Your Strife sounds like a much nicer d00d. _____________________

I suppose any mention that they cross posted is irrelevant to why the thread was closed? I would have moved it to the Tech Support forum but... they already found it. A technical issue that effects how SL is run... like something that is intermittent and effects a client feature, sure cross posting would be permissible. it does not excuse the rudeness. as an employee, paid or not, of SL you represent said company and are part of its customer service base. in a few careless moments(that have now been edited, as if that will make it all better), you left a sour taste in not only her mouth but anyone else who may or may not ask for help. I have just cleaned out my inbox. What you consider acceptable or not doesn't make it less then the truth. I do not get paid. If you have never wanted to throttle anyone in the course of your work in tech support then you are the right person for the job and it is a good job for you. My experience was tainted by workplace politics, after I left them, they replaced everyone in the department (this included my boss and his boss too). The people I was displeased with, weren't the customers, they were my coworkers and management. all the more reason for you to step down. you have apprarently lost all sight of objectivity. and the fact that you have blatantly insulted LL's customer base with that post means you need to be fired. rudeness for rudeness sake is never acceptable. _____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

It is very typical to call anyone who you don't agree with as trolling, and when multiple people are upset by the same thing, it's "a gang attack". I did not name Strife in my original post - and even he acknowledged his post was over the line and went back and edited it. There was nothing helpful about his post -it just chastised a new user who was seeking help. This wasn't a one time thing, it is a pattern of abusive behavior that has gone on for months. I am glad you are so excited about the thought of people getting banned for sticking up for a customer - that speaks volumes. I suppose everyone needs an apologist. shakeshead.........why.........now your attacking me???????????????? ![]() |

shakeshead.........why.........now your attacking me???????????????? ![]() I didn't attack you - I responded to your post calling this a gang attack on poor helpful Strife, and how we should all be banned for trolling by the Lindens. How can you possibly feign ignorance to that? _____________________

...That is simply not acceptable. It's hardly the standard LL and it's residents expect. *Moved to New Products - Clothing & Accessories* Oh, by the way, if I were to discuss this - subjunctively speaking - I'd note that this is, ipso facto, exactly the standard LL expects. But I shan't discuss it. _____________________

Yes you're right. We shouldn't put words here. Think of the pandas.

While I think the ResMod in question is a talented scripter and a nice enough guy, he should NOT have the position of ResMod; repeatedly he's come across as arrogant and modding just for the sake of modding when COMMON SENSE should tell him to do nothing.
There's a term that's often applied to referees in sports: "GOOD NON-CALL." Learn it, Strife. Geez. Regards, -Flip _____________________

Though in retrospect, you are right. I let the years of working in tech support come out (if you have ever worked in tech support for an extended period of time, there are times when you just want to throttle the person for being a dumb... I'll just stop there). I'll go back and edit the post. In the future, please PM me or IM me if you have a problem with my moderation. I work in tech support and have for years. Treating a customer like that would get me fired, and rightfully so. Yes, customers can be quite clueless and yes, it can be quite frustrating, nevertheless, treating them with patience and respect is the job. If you can't do it 24/7/365, then it's time to move on. Rant to your co-workers, not your customers. _____________________

I've locked this thread.
It's good to be helpful. Can't ever have a shortage of that. It's sad this thread sees its own share of hostility and accusations which should be taken to private channels, not aired in public. Our forum Guidelines say: Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences or communicate – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc. Sarcasm and similar expression is text is often misinterpreted too. Good article: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20060213/1558206.shtmlI ask like to questions about someone's intentions, motivation, context. I find that's a nice, and reasonable thing to do. ![]() I'm going to make a clear reminder to the ResMods that it's most appropriate to stay on-topic with moderation actions on issues, and additional commentary isn't necessary. _____________________
