Hi, this is the packages apt-get wants when tryiong to install omvviewer:

omvviewer: Depends: libboost-program-options1.34.1 (>= 1.34.1-8) but 1.34.1-4ubuntu3 is to be installed
Depends: libboost-regex1.34.1 (>= 1.34.1-8) but 1.34.1-4ubuntu3 is to be installed
Depends: libboost-signals1.34.1 (>= 1.34.1-8) but 1.34.1-4ubuntu3 is to be installed
Depends: libc-ares2 but it is not installable
Depends: libopenal1 but it is not installable

I hope the above is enough info? If not, let me know, and i'll provide more info!

I also have a problem with installing the libxul0d package from your repo:
libxul0d: Depends: libhunspell-1.2-0 (>= 1.2.4) but it is not installable

The version of libhunspell in Ubuntu 8.04 is libhunspell-1.1-0

Most of the problems seem related to having too old versions of the packages.... Maybe a solution for those is relaxing the depends restrictions a bit? Or will those older versions not work? In that case maybe the solution for those is checking of the upcoming intrebid version has new enough versions of those, and manually installing them. Usually that can be done without too much trouble, I'll try it later...

As you can see from my last post, the packages that Triss Gray is missing are the same ones that I'm missing. I'm also unable to install libxul0d, for, I believe, the same reason.
The ubuntu-compiled version works fine- maybe a little better than your debian one for me- so thanks there.

Hi i am trying to install your slviewer but i get a error message about libllmozlib2

Heres the error message, it is in swedish, it basically says the packet couldnt be installed becouse the packet is broken :

From: someone

skickas in.
Följande information kan vara till hjälp för att lösa situationen:

Följande paket har beroenden som inte kan tillfredsställas:
omvviewer: Beroende av: libllmozlib2 men det kommer inte att installeras
E: Trasiga paket

So what to do?

/me tries on hardy and installs xulrunner (1.8.1.13+nobinonly-0ubuntu1) first,
then adds intrepid repos (*), installs omvviewer and removes intrepid repos again(*).
(*) := + apt-get update

I started using those:

afaik have the same featureset, and are compiled for ubuntu, so less trouble with dependencies....

Wow has it really been july that this thread was last updated. Oh well...

The Debian and Ubuntu packaging of the viewer under the working name OpenMetaverseViewer is still going strong. We have been tracking all the releases and release candidates and we have just released 1.22.11 debs for Debian built on Lenny. Ubuntu and Arch Linux builds to follow shortly.

Main Changes this release (note there are about 43 patches that we currently apply)

* Viewer now uses libcurl-cares, this is a version of libcurl built
against the c-ares resolver library to provide non blocking DNS which
improves viewer performance (eg viewer stalls and hickups on some
platforms). It also fixes an issue the prevented login in to sl with
libcurl-gnutls (hence the 1.21.6-2 release).

* Avatar login list - If you enable the "Save name list" in the general
preferences tab, the viewer will present you with a drop down combo of
up to the last 10 avatars you have used. Saves a little typing ;-)

* Grid list - The viewer can have user defined grids added to the grid
selection combo on the front login page. To add custom grids please
create a grids.xml file and place this in ~/.secondlife/user_settings/
for the format of this file please see
/usr/share/omvviewer/app_settings/grids.xml, the most important item is
the loginuri field as thats where the login request will be sent.

* Save/Load scripts. The ability to save and load scripts to disk files
from the script editor has been added. This is on the file menu in the
script editor.

Some of the older favorites are still there:-

Dale Glass' avatar scanner, Bulk Permission setting (this is due to
become an official feature next RC cycle) plus many other fixes and tweaks.

Details of apt repository address can be found and the new dedicated site -

This viewers performance has definitely improved, although I have an instant crash, as I did from using the '1.22 RC's' from capitanterrex. It seems to happen every time I try to open a script, 1.21.6 Omvviewer opened scripts as usual, anyone else having this problem?.

Ooh does not sound good. Hopefully the final 1.22 from Terrex's ubuntu repository will be ok. If you or any one else does get problems with my viewer feel free to report them on my jira, jira.byteme.org.uk, under the omv project.

Or contact me in world etc and send me the back/stack traces to see what went wrong. To get more useful traces there are also the omvviewer-dbg packages, but please only install these if you need to reproduce a crash and get a trace as they are very large.

The crash that occurs when opening a script, seems to be caused by using the 'silver' skin for the viewer. I will try it out some more.

Default skin and the viewer works very well so far.

EDIT: it is without doubt the 'silver' skin, when opening the script editor, causes an instant crash. I am using the 64bit version, and with default skin, all media is working very well, this viewer is very stable, and performance is as near to perfect as you can get.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I found and fixed the issue in my Git tree, but i have not as yet had change to push a 1.22.11-2 out the door. FYI it was the save/load script patch that was not adding its menu items to both skins so there was a missing item.

Hi. I added the repository but when I try to install I get a message that there is a dependency on libcurl3-cares (>= 7.16.2-1) but that it can't be installed. Is this something developed for this project or should I raise an ubuntu bug?

libcurl3-cares was packaged specifically for SL, possibly this is missing in one of the ubuntu repositories (there are two one for release and one for release candidates). I'll check with Terrex the ubuntu repository maintainer
