Hi Ya Folks! We are looking to come up with names for Nova Albion Streets. We want to keep it somewhat themed please. Nothing like Lag Way PLEASE. If you have ideas then please share them here. We are looking to name the street that is in front of the Fairchange parcels something special so if you have ideas for that as well it would be great. Thanks!

Seagull Way maybe. But yes Osprey...I think Garth FairChang Ave is the best. Other than that I would like to suggest the first north/south street in Miramare be named after Caroline. Then around the north end of Miramare could possibly be Civic Center Loop.

Each Neighborhood Decides On Their Streets?
09-07-2009 21:32
I think each neighborhood (regional landowners) should decide if they want to name their streets and what they should be named. I'm going to contact each of the Grignano Landowners and make sure they are aware of this effort. Do a quick vote/poll as to whether they want to even do it and what they propose for names. Here is a photo of Grignano Streets and what we have to work with (with some ideas and questions): One idea for that curved section of roadway that starts at the Infohub and ends at the intersection with the proposed Garth FairChang Avenue... Grignano Road. Also, Osprey mentioned naming a road "Magellan Way" and I thought a good spot for that would be the trolley road that leads from the Luna Oaks Galleria into Sistiana. But that would up to the Sistiana-ites, if they are so inclined.

I think the n-s street on the west side is a different street than the e-w one running by the brownstones. The angled bit looks to be part of the n-s street.
I think we should name the streets and keep the walkways temporarily unnamed and kept in reserve. Periodically an obvious name may come up to commemorate someone or some event, and it would be nice to have options.
When a major arterial runs through a town it has a proper name as well as a route number. I think we should give a name to 66. Dore Way? heh
Salazar's idea of coming full circle by using S.F. alley names is something to look into.

Yes Sal....Each region should be able to have say in their naming. Agree totally. But I think that Magellan Way from Luna to Sistiana would be appropriate.

I see that too Os. The curve is more a part of the N-S street. If naming route 66 is an option. Why not name it Magellan Blvd? Just a thought. And what do you mean by S.F.?

As Steve said, Shiny Street is perfect. Some of my thoughts are: Brickie Lane (Miramare) Bay Drive Civic Center Drive (Loop) 5th Avenue Moss Splat Way I was also thinking of naming some streets after a few of the original settlers. Just thoughts.

oooh i like Fairchang for a last name. But because they both contributed so much to SL maybe not put a first name with it. I love LisaHot Blvd. Brickie Lane. Yes , gotta have bricks somewhere Shiny St? I was thinking Armord Way/Street. But marcos approved that message Magellan definitely should have a street named after him.

From: LisaHot Juran Just so everyone knows Sal is making the base sign posts. The sign posts will be a simple affair, based on the same prims and textures that make up the Nova Albion lamp posts included in the city's free texture and object kit. That will help to keep with the city's infrastructure aesthetics and help keep texture downloads to a minimum.

Proposed Fairchang Street Name
09-09-2009 23:12
I would like us to wait an appropriate period before I approach Pituca FairChang with our desire to honor Garth in this or any other way. It is a request that should wait until time permits and I'd like for her to concur before we proceed with any plans.
Thank you,
Salazar

I think if we get permission all around it would be nice to have Garth FairChang Avenue because that would be a conversation starter ("Who is..." . I could definitely accept FairChang Ave but much prefer the former. Of course Magellan needs a street. I like Arch Street for the E-W street in Southern Grig. Shiny Street  Something salty would be nice. Maybe the bridge to Sistiana could be... something describing how you fall through it, heh - Surprise Bridge, nah. I think if we need to do it unofficially at least at first it will give us time to try out names before we settle.
