Hey yas! Like I said in the notice, we will be having a meeting on Feb 22 to discuss the 5th Anniversary. We will also be discussing some infrastructure issues that need tending to. So please enter any input you can regarding these topics. What is the best time for everyone? I'm game for anytime that day. ~Lisa~

That's a Sunday - so for me 11am or noon, or 5pm and after are good times. I'll be there if I can - if not I'll come begging for a transcript

Non Nova Albions?
02-16-2009 23:15
Hi all, If outsiders ( ) are welcome then I'll come too - might be a little after noon as I have a certain someone's bedtime to see to first, but I'll be there. When I say I'll be there... where exactly? HBA **** p.s. Last year I suggested a ticker tape parade and a fly over of planes from Abbotts - I'll slap those babies on the table again

Where? Brownstones at the Arch? Yes, just south of the Brownstones, below the Grignano Arch, sounds perfect. See you all there at Noon on Sunday, February 22nd!

The more the merrier. Beneath the Grignano Arch on Sunday, 22 February at Noon SLT. Great ideas... esp. the flyover from Abbotts. Would love to see some other things besides just a parade.

Will try
02-21-2009 18:13
I have been away for a week so apologies for this late post. Noon Pacific is 20:00 GMT so not sure if I can make it. 16:00 Pacific would be perfect if by chance the time slips to later. Otherwise, perhaps I can post some ideas here in the forum when appropriate.

Welcome Back Del! I am getting the feeling that some infrastructure issues just may overpower the anniversary. I will deffinately propose a couple seperate forums about them. But certainly introduce them today. omg....today? /me runs to the shower! Hey Mossant! So happy you'll be there!

Okay...if I am the one to be the "liason" for all communication...then I guess I will start with a list of things people are working on. From the meeting here is what I gathered. Osprey will work on the Parade itself. So I assume she will make all signs and invitations to other communities? (stop me if i am wrong) I will do the decorations at the HUB. Sal is Making the big Sign, organizing the final event on Sunday, and working on a special project for monday the 23rd.
Here is where I am lost. haha. Not sure what anyone else is doing. Please lety me know!
On another note...I just finished reading the note Sal gave us all and I am not to sure my feelings on it. I started loving the idea of certain powers being granted, but not too sure about the later part of the notecard. What would Nova be like without one? It's part of the History of Nova...as long as I have known it anyway. Anyone else care to share your thoughts?

Ugh.

Well, as luck would have it my gini crapped out on me and I lost the chat log for the meeting we had for the anniversary. Lisa has touched on some items in her recent post. I'll outline the weekend as best I remember it. It's a fairly loose schedule and open to lots of interpretation and multiple events.. so there should be lots going on with little pressure to fit into a set timeline:
Basics:
The official 5th anniversary is Monday 23 March, 2009. Festivities can begin on Friday 20 March and extend to Monday. This is a city-wide thing and residents are encouraged to have their own events that weekend. If you make some noise about it here we'll do our best to include it on an official list of anniversary events. This includes residents of all the Nova Albion neighborhoods –*Grignano, Sistiana, Barcola and Miramare.
Friday & Saturday, 20 & 21 March: Prep for the parade on Sunday 22 March. Use the parcels in Southern Grignano for float building and parade prep.
Sunday 22 March (sometime between Noon and 2:00pm SLT): Anniversary speech (short), possible monument dedication and parade start.
Monday 23 March (8:00pm-ish SLT): (alternate time for possible monument dedication ceremony (short) to commemorate the city's founding)
This is the loose framework for the weekend that residents can plan around. There was talk of a historic tour, which I thought was a nice way to get folks out and about town and not all clumped together in one spot for everything. Folks having events on their own parcels will help too. My parents are going to have some sort of open house at the Brownstone West in Grigano that's tied to the anniversary.
HeadBurro mentioned an aircraft flyover which I thought was inspired. That would be a fun thing to pull off. Perhaps we can get Cubey Terra to help with this from the Abbotts Aerodrome? Cubey was one of the first residents to purchase city land in Miramare, I believe, when that borough went up for auction in 2004.
There was discussion about an official invitation and the need to contact all current city residents. Might be nice to contact past city residents as well for inclusion.
I have the infohub bridge banner I made for last year's anniversary that I can update.
There was talk about coming up with a theme and a suggestion to incorporate the city's current infrastructure situation and future needs into the event. Possibly a "where do we go from here?" sort of thing. We could have sort of a how it all began, what the early days were like, what's it like today and what does the future hold progression, maybe incorporated into the individual resident events over the weekend? As an example, my parents will probably have some sort of retrospective on the Brownstone West's history, both prior to and after the Erase. And highlight some of the neighbors they've had over the years.
I'm going to start a separate thread on city residents, past and present. I'll work with Mom and Dad to see if we can nail down a list for Grignano specifically, as well as any others we can think of for the greater Nova Albion region. Feel free to add to that. Maybe some more familiar with Miramare, Barcola and Sistiana can focus on those neighborhoods?
Also, I'm going to start a separate thread on the infrastructure issues for Nova Albion in general and our infohub specifically so we can begin to gather and discuss all the info, plans, wishes, obstacles, etc. that we have regarding the future of our city. I wouldn't want those things to overshadow or take away from the fun and celebration of our 5th Anniversary.

Also if I remember from last year. Will need the Float bases set out sooner for residents to start working on them sooner. There were some Elaborate Floats last year and I hope this year will be MORE! I think I still have a basic base I can hand out and put into a giver thingy. hehe

Some floats from last year
02-25-2009 13:12
I'm not much of a builder so will no doubt have the same one, but here are some of the great floats from last year's parade: http://headburroantfarm.wordpress.com/2008/03/24/happy-fourth-birthday-nova-albion/

I just had a thought. For the individual land owners events that anyone may have...how about using some of Saturday as a Land Hop. Or a Bar Hop. Or maybe an "open house". Meet and visit with those we may not know, or are new to Nova Albion. Just a thought..hehe
