So Arkansas or extreme southern Missouri seems like the central area...what kind of gathering and venue are we looking for? Just dinner and bull session at someone's house, or a bar, or a restaurant, or what? I live here and don't really know of anything cool to actually DO.

I'd offer my house, but it's much too small for such a meeting. Lots of good places in the area, though. Anyone ever been to the AQ Chicken House in Springdale or Fayetteville?

I haven't been there, I thought it was some kind of unfamiliar fast food chain...might have to try it sometime. A restaurant was built near me last year, it had become my favorite: Smokin' Joe's. Lots of good barbeque stuff. Ah, I have a cool idea: there's a Shogun Japanese steakhouse in Fayetteville that's pretty good, it's always fun to watch the cooking and the big grill-tables are perfect for a group.

I would also offer my place, except that I live in an apartment. Of course if we end up with only three or four people going to this I certainly have enough sq. m. and seating. I'm no decorator though.

AQ Chicken House has THE best chicken I have ever had in my life, served any of about 20 different ways. There are only two, the original one in Springdale, which has been there about 60 years, and one in Fayetteville. They built one in Bentonville a few years ago but some twerps burned it down a couple of years ago.

Smokin' Joe's is good, but for bbq in this part of the country nothing beats Bubba's Barbecue in Eureka Springs.

Never been to Shogun's, but it's about 1/4 mile from my wife's office.

Ok, my mouth is watering now. I've had chicken I thought was pretty good (and some...not quite) but nothing that anyone had described as THE best chicken of a lifetime. I'm on board with AQ Chicken House if there's no further dissent.

Now, setting a time: next week is BAD for me, and after that it starts getting indeterminate for the following month. Probably the best is right at the beginning of next month, looks like the 4th or 5th, 5th being a Sunday if we want to make sure Zero the Car Salesman can make it. That's about it for specific dates from me, other days later in February are possible, but I may have to ditch.

I don't think we have settled on anything concrete yet, but I'm very serious about doing something. Since we have people participating in this thread all the way from central and southern Oklahoma (Oklahoma City and Lawton) to central Missouri, I am thinking that Joplin might be the best location. Maybe we should have a poll.

I am thinking maybe a little later on into the spring, so it'll be warmer and the girls can dress in RL like they do in SL... woot!

I'm all about a meetup in joplin, seeing as that is where I live.

I'm in the Southwest corner of Arkansas, Texarkana to be exact. Every where you guys mention is a huge drive for me, but still I would love meet some of you folks in RL.

I'm in Norman, Oklahoma. Wouldn't mind drivin' a bit to a meetup.

Im from Tulsa, IT would be really nice to meet more people from teh midwest, ALSO
an official event is planned in San Francisco this summer/Fall. Perhaps a nice gathering this spring and maybe we can rent a bus or something and party in SF?

Thanks, Phoenix, for pointing out this thread! It looks like the meet up never happened? I think I know just where you live, btw. I'm originally from up Russellville way and know a lot of folks up in NW Arkansas. I'll probably be living up there most of the summer, in fact.

Any Arkansas folks interested in getting together in Little Rock sometime between, say, now and August? .

I kind of let it slide because I knew I was in for some surgery in the near future, which is now over and done with (recovering nicely, thank you).

I would love to start plans for something like this anytime. Let's do it!!! If you're going to be up this way during the summer, in fact, we might even plan something over in this neck of the woods, because, as you have seen in this thread, there are people over in Oklahoma and other areas nearby that have expressed interest.

As I asked someone else in a previous post in this thread: ever had AQ Chicken?

Incidentally, my youngest daughter lives in Russellville. She's a junior at Tech.
