I would like to see if anyone in the surrounding areas that are close to Dallas, Texas would like to have an SLCC here in Dallas. I need to know what we have to do to pull off this event. Let me know if anyone is interested. ONE LOVE!! :)

Y'all could haul y'all's North Texas asses down to Austin on Sunday, Oct. 23rd, for the gathering we're having there!

(Well, it's merely for a few hours at a restaurant and maybe a leisurely --- key word --- stroll on the Hike & Bike trail ... not quite anything approaching SLCC-level ...but still ...)

I told Flipper I'd buy him a case of Shiner if they planned the next one for Dallas.

I just wish they would hurry up and plan the when and where part so I can make plans. I'm going to make the next one no matter what!

Because those of us who couldn't make it to this year's SLCC want our chance to see Philip parade around in a jeweled.... something.

There is a few of us going to try to get to Atlanta on the 29th. If the Dallas one is not in the immediate future, I would like to try to make that one. I may be on business in El Paso in January, but I don't have dates yet. Also hopefully will be around Melbourne, FL in January, but that one depends on when my niece decides to grace us with her presence. :)

Damn. Then we'd need passports. Texas is a different country isn't it?

I would be all for going to Dallas anytime. I miss the Galleria, that place makes my heart do blackflips. I could also go to that awesome Mexican resturant that has the best Chicken Fried Steak, mmm.

Not that I have any input into this or anything, but Austin is like one of my favorite places in the whole wide world, there's a ton of high-tech savvy folks hitting SL from there bigtime already (like Anne Beamish at UT Austin who uses it for her architecture class), not to mention all the game dev folks the Lindens know there who'd surely want to join the action, nor the greatest live music anywhere, nor the awesome BBQ place called Stubbs that has a whole big backyard that could cram a boatload of Residents and such.

(Not harshing on Dallas, mind, would love to visit there sometime.)

I bet if you held this off til '07... say maybe Feb... a lot more of us would come flocking from other parts of the country. Anyway, just an idea if you were looking to make it a somewhat large event. It's damn cold in New England in Feb and I could self justify any amounts of money to get my cold arse to Texas then.

I support local meetups for sure. One Love!

I'd do Austin.

Dallas I have heard is cool, though Austin has the advantage of having game companies and tech companies in-city, and could be more of a welcoming town to a con.

Austin is a blue island in a vast sea of red. There could be no better venue. And, I'm not biased just cuz I live here. :p

Austin is the place to be for South x Southwest too! Lindens were speakers this past year at the festival. Austin's perfect for a gathering... smack dab in the middle of the Republic! ;) Though I'll be a Houston girl come 2006, Austin is still only a hop, skip and a three hour jump away.

*raises a margarita*

Name the place :)

Austin ROCKS!! We plan to move there in a year or two, but Darko's job has us in Dallas. Dallas is cool though. We live in the Lakewood area. I agree that Austin would be a fantastic place to hold a SLCC. ONE LOVE!!

Still think Vegas is the town to beat - hotels that suit everyones budget - major airport 15 mins from the strip - every major hotel has convention rooms, thats not including the 2 major convention centers... Bars and entertainment oportunities ranging from fine art to tittie bars....

Lot to think about there.
