Dealing with abusive and or rude newbies

Well here is my story.............i was called to greete this new person, well i did. But what followed was wow your cute, I want to go to the red red light area, i want to lick you bum etc. Now I was getting pretty pissed off but I stuck it out.then he got nakied and wanted womens sexy undies...Now at this point i had enough.i tried to reach anyone else that might want to deal with him but with no luck. SO I did something i don`t do..........I logged off.I never did this but i could not deal with this person. I first asked him before we met what he wante to do when when he saw me then started the sexual remarks and other chat......I know we are to show people around and show them a fun time but..........is there a limit to what we have to deal with in the formal of either abusive remarks or locations where we ourself don`t want to deal with?

Twice last week.. weekend I have meet idi****** to newbies.. last was when i was in the pool.. talking.. hmm.. a newbie landed.. walked around... Jumped into the pool.. tested a ball.. yes he was very aware that we was in the pool.. After no answer no connection i banned him from my land.. I also wrote an IM.

Some days before.. i was kissing a the bride at Victorian falls in Dreamland when a girl newbie saw us and standing beside us.. started to do an animated show.. of course to make our time bad...

A new kind of newbies are hitting us in SL - for sure..

What to do? Now clue so far if I am not on MY land..

Of course there is, and you used the option available to you to adandon the cretin. It's not like LL can dock your pay for that You're a greeter not a target; 'tis a shame there wasn't a Liaison around with a politeness stick.

I am seeing a trend with some newbies. One Not all newbies are newbies. Two I am noticing more and more under 18 year old reactions under some conditions. Three more and more abusive types entering our game. I had one resently pop out saying in a off line message this game was not for him. Now I tired to help him then POOF he is gone. Now thats his right but i noticing more and more newbies that either don`t know what they want and or are asking what is the purpose of this game? I answer the questen the best I could. But I think when people sign up for second life they do have some idea what they are getting int when they sign up.

I have also seen more of this going on, it doesn’t matter what I have on it can be a long dress covering all of my body and I get the, you are hot want to have sex right after they land. I tell them to leave and that’s rude most times they leave right away. I will ban if I need to I am not here to be someone’s sex doll.

Because we have opted to help Newbies by greeting, mentoring, teaching, etc doesn't mean that we should stand for ANY level of abuse. We're here to help out those who truelly want/need our help. Being kinds & friendly doesn't mean being someone's door mat or in this case mattress.

I too have had some come on's, a little flirting & joking never bothers me but some people do take things too far. i try to say something if I think something's going towards the direction of my uncomfy zone, sometimes people just step right on over to that with little to no warning.

I don't hold back how I feel if someone's makes me uncomfortable.

Abuse report, IM a linden, Ban , & then if need be log out.

I do not think it's a good idea to let people like this think that this is Ok behaviour in ANY life!

Oooh, bad idea. The Lindens have stated (and enforced) repeatedly that the use of weapons for this type of situation - even in self defense - is bad mojo and will get you suspended/banned. Their position is "use the Abuse Report tool, that's what it is there for". Fighting back is as likely to get you banned as it would the griefer.

yeah me too, i simply tell them straight out your making me uncomfortable, if you dont wish for my help then just say so. and if that doesnt work i just call upon one of my guy friends who are better with noobs that i dont have the patience to deal with. not that i dont have patience

I agree with you, call on your guy friends in the game. They are always will to help and also to show a newbiw the kind of men that us sexy biznatches might actually want to help in that way! LOL. JK.

Seriously though, calling in back up is never a bad idea.

i agree saffy plus someone having your back when dealing with aggressive or overly sexual noobs that dont get a hint is never bad, even if one can take care of themselves

When propositioned by a noob, I just put my AV in a perpetual laugh animation and spin her head around a couple of times. Cools 'em right down.

The real persistant ones I send to one of the many clubs, I have a special note card with landmarks that I drop on them. Generally the choice between cybering with someone who's head is spinning and is doubled over in laughter while cracking jokes about their Ken doll body parts and the possibility of meeting up with a cybering barbie at the cyber club is an easy one.

Failing that, I pull out the granny card and say something like "Hey did you know that I'm old enough to be your Mom's mom?" I'm usually met with kthxcu.

(edited to add that I'd be happy to drop the head spinning animation off to you when I am in world).

When I mentor in the Welcome Area I generally avoid the "scene," and just sit quietly by the teleporter waiting for nice fresh newbies, "right out of the oven" sort of speak.

It often seems that every third one or so is some kind of alt.

As a result, I get much better results just wearing the mentor sign elsewhere, like while shopping or even just flying around. Then at least I get to help people without interruptions and without being ridiculed or targeted.

To me, *those* are the rewarding experiences, the newbies you run into in those situations are the ones that realy need the help and are actualy grateful when they get it.

You've been here awhile. I'm sure you've dealt with worse than some unwanted advances by some male noob hehe. Its plain to see that if he can't respect you or your wishes that you should leave him hanging on the spot... teleport home, teleport any damn where lol. Let him find his own damn way around or perhaps follow through with some of the examples posted earlier in the topic... A personal recommendation, is to send him to Edge or somewhere and he can cyber to his heart's content.

Over amorous noobs will wither at your feet...lol

You can do this yourself, just change into a male avatar. I frequently wear a female avatar and if someone starts hitting on me, I just switch into my male avatar. It always stops them in their tracks and teaches a valuable SL lesson, "things are not always as they may appear."

But seriously, dont put up with abuse. If a newbie is wanting to do things your not interested in, just tell them. If they dont shape up, just tell them that your sorry you cant provide the help they are wanting and leave.
