alright i have noticed that alot of people are saying there are lack of mentors.

reasons to why there are...

1. work
2. have to deal with real life stuff
3. they gotta sleep
4. people live in different parts of the world
5. they all help out when they have time

we are all mentors we may not be official but we can all help new commers in SL all we have to do is be kind and treat them well mentors are very busy along with lindens. if you really think about we all are in real life and in second life we help make this world what we want but we can abuse it we are all role models everyone is different in age and in culture and we have to respect that. we are all mentors in the end and then enjoy it. mentors help each other out even if we are not branded with the name.

LACK? are you sure?????????????? you mean we need more? OMG there are over what 560 in the ranks as is now. We have some deep problems in the ranks thas a given but gesh add more? SOme have said there is a lack of leadership and then there is people playing I am the best of the mentors as well. Problem is there is little control in the ground and more fighting at times then anything.

I would agree that there is probably not a lack of Mentors out there. Sometimes it is hard to "see" someone being a Mentor because the role is so loosely defined. They are not say giving a tour or showing something how to build like say a Greeter is or answering their calls like Live Help. I always believed the role of a Mentor was to set an example for the community, to help when they can, and just contribute to the community in a positive way. That is what I always tried to do.

Back in November of 2005, Jeska said at a meeting once (transcript here) that she wanted to see Mentors organize themselves more and take charge. If you remember I followed her advice and organized a Mentor meeting that month which lead to monthly Mentor meetings. (I hope those are still going on.)

There is nothing stopping ANY Mentor from trying to organize others, give advice, make or design new tools that can be used with new residents etc. I cannot tell you how I was helped by things created by Max Case or cards drawn up by Gwenth Llewelln (I think) and so forth. Sure it might take some work or motivation, but if you signed up to be a volunteer than I know you are willing to put for the effort. :D

Slowly but surely I see a change, the Volunteer groups are coming together. I have noticed a change since the weekly GOV (Gathering Of Volunteers) meetings have started. I expect to see more of us attending in the future and start guiding ourselves.

I'm am a mentor and yes US mentors need sleep and sometimes cannot answer all your questions or just help you in-game so that's why there others mentors around that online. when - some mentors across world is sleeping. thank you!

#5 help out when they have time. << this fits best for me cause I have a life to tend to also so I cannot help everyone at once. thank you & take care.

p.s we all have lives to tend too aswell. We can't be there 100% all the time. Hope this helps some for most people.

I wouldnt consider bashing the group a way for changes either.... if there's a problem we can band together and solve it, work to solve the problems, dont become a part of the problems.

If you want to paint a colorful picture even if it not then fine. Your a your free to believe. but for me I don`t just don`t cover my eyes like some our doing. I say it just the way it is. Just don`t start saying I can`t even speak my mind, ther been a rash of problems people voicing their views these days about the mentors. Since when can`t we even disagree eith issues? Do we al have to agree even tho its not right?! :p Gesg

Lady, I think she was agreeing with you.

Or something.

Who can tell with your posts? It's hard enough to discern any meaning other than offense from them in the first place.

Here we go usagi bashing! Enjoy it it seems you only post this ways anyways these days.........figures  If this is what fun to you please do so...........But some of us do work as mentors unlike some....Now go play with reallyrick lovers..... :p
I just can`t takesome people post serius anymore these days..... There is so much hate and dispect in the mentors... If one disagrees they are hung........Nice freedom of speach we have in this group. :p Now go play nice and maybe you get a cookie. Kids where are their parents these days........I KNOW  ON THE INTERNET
This type of post is the reason i am starting to mute other mentors.....Because if they are not bashing you one way they are insulting you another..There is 0 control in this group with very little coming coming out of this group.... BTW you try understand two diff languge LO. YOU being a mentor such know better then bash some one that main languge is not english. WAIT. why would you care inthe first place!

I know plenty of Japanese people who manage to be quite civil and friendly in English. Obviously language is not the issue with you.

Toy is right, anyway. No use in creating trouble. I don't like you, but ultimately we are aiming for the same thing, which is helping new folks.

I find it funny that those who complain about drama are the ones most likely to start it.
