Per this announcement, please post here if you are interested in being considered for addition to the pool of Resident Forum Moderators (ResMods).

Resident Moderators Selection Criteria:
- Must be both an Second Life Resident and forum participant for at least 3 months
- Write thoughtful, constructive posts
- Have clean Linden Rapsheet (no warnings/suspensions)
- Be peacemakers and know how to use humor to diffuse not attack
- Be warm and welcoming to fellow Residents from all walks of Second Life
- Clear from past participation that they value positive discussion and will contribute to the overall tone of the Second Life Forums

How it Will Work
Potential Resident Moderators will be rotated into and out of the active pool of Resident Moderators on a bi-weekly basis. For example, after 2 weeks, the current group of people, we will reflect upon the process with those currently in the pool and add more people to the pool and remove those who have either expressed no interest/not participated or are not interested, trying to maintain a group of 10-15 active ResMods at a time. This number may of course grow as the community grows.

Read more at the Initial Post or update.

You know what, I have a warning a long while back, and with that warning (using non-pg talk in a pg area in a joking manner) I was kicked out of the mentor group, and have since been not allowed in any volunteer group since. All I would like to get across here, is that I have been a second life resident for almost 2 years. I spend probably as much or more time here than a Linden most weeks. I feel I know second life very well and I have a lot to offer this community. Even drivers license points are taken off after a certain period. Whoever applied this no warnings rule to everything within sl is either sparkling clean and perfect in every way, or a bit closed minded. I don't feel I should be looked down on so much and excluded from so much simply because I used a potty mouth once in my early days =/

Potty Mouth!

But seriously... what is there left to moderate anyway? I look in the forums, and more often than not I am amazed at not what is *in* the forums. I am more amazed at what isn't spoken of in the forums. Or the weblog, for that matter.

I'd have to get paid ALOT to even consider curtailing people's rants. Especially when some of them are quite agreeable... and yes, I have been a pro moderator since the days of BrainBuzz.com.

Quick type faster before the free speech police, I mean resident moderator comes in and abuses what little tidbit of power they have and stop's your freedom of expression by closing down the thread because they don't feel it's in the right category (And they don't care that there are very few category's left, They just wanna use the power). Oh no, I've said to much. This entire category is being retired.

I would like to be a ResMod. I am currently a mentor in SL.
I am an administrator/moderator/owner of a few other forums. Members have always found me to be fair, open, rational, and sometimes witty. ;)
Thank you for your consideration,

I hope to become a ResMod because:

• I have been working with forums for around 4-5 years now.
• I do not tolerate abuse of the ToS and the rules.
• However, I know when it is appropriate to take further action and when to verbally warn/talk to the person about what they have done.

• I am on the computer frequently.
• I understand how the forums work, however I have never moderated on a vBulletin forum (I usually moderate on Invision Power Boards).
• I enjoy foruming, and I believe that I can help keep the discussions in the correct places, and on topic.

Hmm this sticky started quite a while ago and it's hard to know which of the many volunteers are still interested. Those of you who are still interested in resmoding, please post to Strife's thread: /274/80/221366/1.html

I'll take the opportunity to post here something that I already posted on that thread, forgive the crosspost in this instance:

No new resmods have not been appointed yet - those who are interested may want to vote for a new Jira, WEB-448. Explanation and discussion of that, as well as simple voting instructions, are on this thread: /327/4a/234101/1.html

Forum moderation is temporarily being done by Aki Linden now that Strife has stepped down.

Qie and I are actively working on getting more moderators, resident or Linden, lined up. So yes, keep applying. But for now all that makes sense is to post here - the list of names will once again be given to the Lindens shortly. I'm sure that if LL decides to appoint more resmods, they will want more information. But they have not decided what to do about forum moderation yet.

well we love the lindens right :) better them than some volunteer mods. I BELIEVE the forums should be a free space like a sandbox where we can do or say whatever we want and dont get persecuted by tardy power trippin turds out to smash just cause ya said they lick turds or something. if we can have a wonderful flame war every now and again i think the forums will regulate them selves
otherwise i will lead the sxodus off this forum cause i just cant abide week long suspension inworld for a few word slips here and ther so...sl forums we dont post and neither the f2ck should u campaign is officailly back on!

Only english speaking moderators wanted?
02-29-2008 00:53
I'm living in germany, run a german help station in SL and recently became a mentor.

Since Linden keeps stressing, that the german speaking users are the second largest user group in SL, but there is no moderation in the german forum, I'd like to apply for that.

You might have wanted to actually READ some of the discussion on that. This is a DEAD thread from long ago, there was another thread opened by Strife last year, too, we had lots of people volunteering, but LL IS NOT APPOINTING any more res mods. Guess what, I applied a long time ago, too, especially because I am bilingual and could have moderated in the German forum.

It's not gonna happening. Sorry.

Well, bringing up this in combination with Lottes office hour every tuesday at 7 pm german time is more a hint to what german users expect from LL. You tear down a wall brick by brick...

This is the right treat and why should a Linden comment why someone become moderator? So why do you think its wrong to read the rules and post where the rules say?
