Its not on my navigation on the main sl website, just wondering whats going on... They closing that like they are closing everything else?

What i mean by closing everything else is land management forum, linden answers, and all the archived.

Well if you seen some of the people in it these days I wonder why this might be true.

Coming from my background as an admin for azure, i come across many that dont even have a clue what they are doing. Its real unfortunate, but i guess Lindenlab is taking away all 'communication' between us and them, with the removal of linden answers, and all of the other good things that we once had, that had "closed".

Its officially gone it appears ;

Thing i dont really understand is why they are getting rid of them now, when we are reaching damn near 30k online... I would think they would be looking for volunteers as the users increase, though i have heard a good number of 'stories' about bad element mixing with the volunteer, but personally i think thats more a recruitment // acceptance issue.

If you seen a few of the mentors in the group, maybe why can understand what the leader is scaling back. Example-------->After seeing one griefter that has followed me for over a year tried to play Sims On Line type drama games ( sending abuse reports on her on her and her countless alts for griefting and verble abuse ) I started to understand the mentor group is nothing like it was before. Mind you there are many good useable mentors still. Seeing now land owner are now mentors giving away or saying they are places to live for newbies just makes me laugh. If this one griefter/wanabe land baron is any signs of how the status of quility of mentors. Then the group is indeen in deep problems.... I Just hope Pathfinder Linden can take the ship and guide it correctly. The sooner the better

I don't see anything about Instructors or Greeters on the page to apply or check your status. Just Live Help and Mentors.

I applied to be a Greeter quite a few weeks ago (probably near enough 6) and the application was still being considered yesterday. Today it has totally vanished and not a word from anyone as to why or what is going on. I have been waiting patiently and am very disappointed. What is the point of wanting to help people if our offers are thrown back in our faces with no explanation? I do not understand that at all.

Well, when I went to apply for Mentor instead, it appears I am already under consideration for it. Just as well I don't mind being a mentor, as it's somewhat different from being a greeter! The lack of information is a little disconcerting, I've had to ferret about to discover something that really should have been told to me in an email.

Try to keep in mind that things may disapear or reappear on the side bar of the website for alot of reasons, I know on my own site I do the same thing as I make changes. Which alot of us as volunteers know will be happening in the volunteer program to help it be of better use for how fast Second Life is growing.

Because one thing is not there one day and is back the next is no reason to hit the panic button.

I believe that since the source came about, they are going through everything organizing things so that they can effectively plan their route to expand again, which could be a bit good and a bit bad.

I'm a pretty new member of SL and I was surprised when I logged in for the first time that you are pretty much left on your own to figure things out.

Doesn't that happen in most online games though? I know in WoW I didn't have much of a clue what to do apart from run round and click on things to see what tooltips turned up.

Over at Stratics (http://sl.stratics.com) we do have a number of 'new player help guides' which you may find useful.

The volunteer program is going through changes currently. In the next update there will be no more Live Help (Help Request) channel, and there will be a 'Smart Webpage' used as a primary help assist for all volunteer programs.
-I hope I was of some assistance

LL makes no sence
04-20-2007 14:33
With all the new people joining as well as old members who just need help, why remove the one thing that really don’t cost any money to operate and can offer help to people who need it. If they have people who want to volunteer then let them do so. Why LL would want to handicap a user in need is beyond my thoughts when it comes to customer service. If LL wants to keep Linden employees out of the help chat group then do that but to close it down when you have people who want to help is just ludicrous.

It basically is being taken away because too many people complained about the lack of Live Help they received. With SL growing the rate it is, it just wasn't feasible to have one on one convos with everyone that wanted to ask anything from, "How to I buy new hair?" to "Grid needs to be restarted" and everything in between.
