We are going to be hosting a 50 day long Big Brother (Based on the USA version, not like the one found in Sollywood based on UK's version) and the winner get's anywhere from 5-50 K, BTA. If you want to apply please IM Brad Pow.

Yes, more info please. I'm a fan of the Big Brother tv show, and although I doubt I have the time to participate, I'd like to "watch". :)

In the BB television show, the contestants are in the house with no outside contact until such time as they get evicted. That clearly isn't something that you can do in SL -- I can't spend day upon day in SL without leaving. So what are you doing to make your version of BB similar to the RL version?

I agree, but it did bring to mind some equivalent of the Blogathon for SL. For those who don't know it, Blogathon involves you making a post every 30 minutes for a whole 24 hours, not automated either. You get sponsored for it. I've always failed, though I did get *some* money for Amnesty.

http://www.blogathon.org/

Now, thinking about it, people could make a pledge to stay online in SL and do things for 24 hours. They could be visited every so often by volunteers to make sure they're awake, just like people's blogs get checked by Blogathon volunteers. How does that sound?

Yeah, but the OP was talking about a 50 day long event. I love SL as much as anybody, but even I can't stay in SL for 1,200 hours straight. :p

You may log off, and you may leave the house, although it's highly reccomended you spend time talking to the other contestants, in or out of the house. But all meetings etc are insde the house.

So the people "live" in the house and have certain mandatory meetings and every so often people are cast out (ie no longer have access to the house)?

Alas, I just want to know the detailed premise and rules.

How does a contestant get booted from the group? Picking up something without standing next to it? Removing script from doors or locking the toilet seat? How about what we get to do to you if the winner only gets the minimum 5K, or nothing at all?

We need the specifics man, DEATILS :P.

They will be added to the land's ban list, the money is decided by a number of factors from nominations and jury votes, and it's based on the USA version not the UK, so they evict each other. I have a notecard in SL, IM me for it if you wish.

Yay! Great idea. I love BB!!! But 50 days??? Yikes! I fear that the contestants would grow bored with it. Even 50K may not be enough for some to be involved in this event for 50 days. Maybe try starting out with 1 week or even 2?

You could build interest in it by blogging snapshots and diaries from the contestants for everyone to see. Merchants may get involved by donating Lindens or items (like shopping sprees) for mention on the blog site or naming a game after their shop (i.e. The Never30 Cakewalk).

Just my 2 cents. Great idea you have, I hope that it turns into something concrete for us all to follow!!!

Since you keep your regular Second Life most wouldn't be expected to get bored, and we have ALOT of people expected to be "evil" and "plotting" so that never gets boring. Secondly, there WILL be episodes with pictures and diary room after the show is over. As for the stores, I'd LIKE to do that, but support is hard to find.

People can log out while in the house.

People can IM others while in the house.

People can log in with an alt and play as normal while in the house.

I don't see this working..

People don't have to stay logged in.

People can leave the house.

IM'ing is ok.

You can play your normal game as well.

Please, read the thread before you bash.

Will it be packaged up like tv? Will someone record what's going on and edit it all together in watchable "episodes"?

I am not great in machinma, maybe future seasons will have actual video episodes, but season one is simple text and picture episodes.

I have read the thread, no where does it state that people can leave the house or IM.

If they're allowed to go where they want, why would they spend any time in the house? One of the main parts of the RL big brother is that they can't escape each other, there isn't much to do, and they have to live on a small budget for food etc. None of this can happen in SL.

So its just like Big Brother, except that you CAN leave the house.
Yep. That will work.

Excuse me while I just wipe up this sincerity that's spilling out of me.......
