1.15 doesn't work with MacOS 10.4.9 at all. It worked with 10.3.9 until 45 minutes ago. Since 1 I crashed it is impossible to log in. "Login failed. The system is logging you out right now...." That's not amusing, exspecially, if you wait for 5 minutes and then system tells you, you have to wait for another 5 minites, and another 5 minutes and another 5 minutes. I don't like to get fooled.

I run MacOS 1.4.9 without issue. Well, without many issue that aren't grid related. See if you can't get the land owner to boot you from the plot you were on or get the sim reset. Am I the only one amused when these people that have been in world a few months are saying that 1.15 is the worst ever? I guess they don't know what it is really like when an update really breaks the grid. (1.5 anyone?)

From my point of view
05-01-2007 00:26
Well I've been in nearly 2 years now, and 14 and 15 are the worst I've experienced - not least because it doesn't seem to be a universal experience, and I'm wondering if they're actually going to address this issue at all. And I run on XP SP2 with McAffee anitivirus and firewall - so that's hardly challenging convention.

From: Tybalt Brando Needless to say I'll be cancelling my premium account when I get back into the game. Judging by the contents of the proposals to Linden Labs of the letter recently signed and sent by the 'SL Community', it wouldn't be advisable. They advocate 'limiting' anyone without a premium account. You are in danger of falling into the 'Have Not' category. Not my idea of a Community!

This is ridiculous

Like many, I was using the option 1.13 viewer also until this *required* update. Quite frankly, I have had it. I know many others have too. Not only does it crash SL but it crashes the whole dang computer. I know people who can't even get past the log in screen anymore.
If someone tries to tell me to change my settings, or update my vid card, I just might pull out my combat sword and behead you. *laughs* There is nothing wrong with my pc or my vid card. I have been in SL since Jan 2006 and seen many 'bad updates', but this is by far the worst I've ever seen.
Ummmm...Lindens...are you seeing all these ticked off people?? I understand problems happen but until you can find a fix, at least let us go back to using the optional 1.13 client while you get it straightened out.

SL Bluescreened on me, twice. Once while running, and then again after rebooting and firing it up. Decided to write 'em down this time.
STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBF837895, 0xF08D3A68, 0x0000000)
Win32k.sys - Address BF837895 base at BF800000, Date Stamp 45f013f6
When I rebooted and restarted the program I got the same error, only instead of 0xF08D3A68 I got 0xF0186A68

Three different machines here - all have crashing or BSOD problems with this latest release. It's to the stage it's largely unusable...
On top of this, the grid seems to be down more and more, yet we still have to pay for a service we cannot use becuase a) the software is too buggy or b) the grid is down...
I have been contemplating purchasing some private islands, although now having "second" thoughts.
Not impressed...

If SL just 'crashed' I could live with it, but it doesn't just crash the program, it crashes my entire computer. Screen locks up, mouse cursor won't move after a few seconds, CTRL ALT DELETE does absolutely nothing, and after about 3 minutes of pure lock-up my PC restarts itself.
It's funny, I can run multiple instances of say... ES4: Oblivion without a hitch, but I can't run a technologically/graphically inferior program like Second Life w/o constant freezing.
I've had this issue since the 1.4 release and was praying to God they would have fixed it by now.

both PC and Mac here, same issues on both. i'm not a techie of any kind, but i know which of those little bars in the upper right of the UI is mine, and which is theirs. my bar is fine ... theirs is a steady, full yellow. so i'm not having packet loss issues, at least.
i've only crashed (since today's update) when i attempt to wear a piece of clothing, or change skins. it gives me a blue error up in the right corner, something about "database error" goes by so fast i didn't even get a screenshot before i crashed. not the usual freeze-n-crash, just a whoooosh! SL is gone kind of crash.

I played a year ago and quit, had no problems at all back then. Reinstalled it yesterday, same computer, it won't run. Well, it runs for about 5 minutes then my whole computer locks up and I have to push the reset button to restart. Don't have time for games that don't work. Back to Lord of the Rings Online.

Solution For Me!
05-06-2007 06:22
I'm passing this on, in the sincere wish that it works for you like it did me. I'm now running as well as I ever have in SL, with no graphics impairment or any kind of adjustment. I ran Windows update and looked at the non-critical "Custom" options. There I found driver updates for both my modem and for networking (I use a household wireless LAN to a wired router). I also found, 2 XP patches and some stuff related to networking in the software category. I downloaded and installed the lot. SL works again - bingo. Needless to say, I did create a restore point before doing any of this - just in case! Hope this helps you everyone!

Solved my blue screen problem
05-06-2007 12:05
I haven't tried Lucy's windows update, but I did play with my Preferences (on the SL login screen) - I can now stay on without problem. I suspect that the main change was to run in fullscreen, but I'm listing the other ones I made before since I haven't actually gone back and undone them.
- Run in fullscreen mode
From the Preferences Graphics tab, unclick the 'Run in a window' check box. Both 800x600 and 1024x768 worked okay for me.
- Setting in Graphic Detail tab
Sun and moon only Terrain Detail - low All Mesh sliders completely to the left
- Adv. Graphics Max particle count 512
- Audio&Video Mute Audio

Yar it does crash less often in fullscreen, but it still crashes, well for me anyway. I'll try turning down my graphics options though, it kills me to have to do that though considering the beast of a machine I have... so ridiculous.
I'll check out that windows update as well, thanks for the tips.

It doesn't crash that often on my machine, but it's terribly slow and EVERYTHING is a horrid rez hell with textures repeating themselves all over the place. It freezes here and there and then starts over, and basically it reminds me of 1.12's worst.
My computer is an Acer Aspire 1670 laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics card. Oh, and I can't get OpenGL 2.0 for my machine, because Acer doesn't provide it. Oh joy - looks like I'll have to buy a new machine for SL.
