Can't download new version

I'm told I need to upgrade to to 1.18.0.6. The automated updater crashes. When I go to the downloads section of secondlife.com, the link to download is broken! I am unable to log in, yet apparently 44,000 people are currently online. How is everyone getting the latest version?

Broken download link = http://s3.amazonaws.com/download-secondlife-com/Second%20Life%201-18-0-6%20Setup.exe

The response I get: "can't find the server at s3.amazonaws.com"

I already downloaded the client Wednesday. I just tried the link again and it works for me. Try my pasted link:

http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.php

Just copy between the 's and paste to your address bar and hit enter

Thats not whats broken, it's the actual download thats broken for us.

I just downloaded the client...........all 31 megs to my hard drive (again).

Are you saving to your hard drive or trying to run the installer from the site? If trying to run it try downloading it to your drive and running it then.

It worked for me.......hope it helps.

Well the OP is having the same issue...........call your ISP. Maybe there is a pipeline problem between Australia and US. It could be a temporary problem too. How long have you been having this problem? Since the release (Wednesday for us in the US.....yesterday for you guys, I think)?

Hahaha...........brain dead. It still would have been two days ago LOL

If it were a pipeline problem, wouldn't there be a problem for me getting to this website?

I only noticed the problem this morning, when I had to download this "needed" update.

Not really............who knows where the download site is? It could be in China for all I know. But I would think if you could get to the page where the link is you should be able to follow that link to the download. But that's logical for me............and the internet is necessarily logical. LOL

Maybe try again in a few hours? Or tomorrow. Sorry, I can't help more. It works for me. But like you pointed out, I'm a heck of lot closer (probably) than you to the site.

But call you ISP anyway............they need to work for the hard earned money you give them :)

Good luck.

So I'm in Australia too... I've seen this before on other US-based sites where the page I get is different to that in another country. Drove me mad trying to report a bug on etrade once... often the site owner can't diagnose the problem because they can't repeat the problem. Any ideas how to bring this to the attention of someone at Linden?

Or... anyone willing to post the .exe somewhere for download? :D

Australia link is broke

I have also been trying all day for update and unable to log in. I have sent issue to support but they have replied with an automated response of delete game, clear cache and temp files and reinstall. Problem is Aust seems to only be able to get the old version from outside sites as no one has hosted the new version outside of the SL link.

Im getting the DT's man no SL for 2 days dammit!!! LOL

still aint working

when you click on the download from secondlife this is still the message

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at s3.amazonaws.com.

* Check the address for typing errors such as
ww.example.com instead of
www.example.com

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Frustrating as I do not have my firewall on , connection works fine and addresss the same on all sites to download the file from.

The issue is still there... I have opened a technical support ticket with a general "Australians cannot download 1.18.0.6" complaint... hopefully something will be done soon. Hang in there guys!
